    Red Mud..

Does any one know of a way to get the tint of red mud out of carpet?

    Ive tried Vacuming/Shampoing/Spot stuff

The shampoing and spot stuff seem to make it worse...

Id really like to have a cleaner looking car.. :-/

That's because it's ground in to the carpet and below. It'll take a bunch of work to get it all out.

As a last resort, I'd take the carpet out and hang it longways over a short fence (half/half each side), wet it and then brush it gently with a softer nylon brush and some carpet cleaner. Then hose it till the water runs out clear. Let it hang dry for awhile. You can also reshampoo a bit with a machine again for any really stubborn spots. When you're done, throw down some Scotch Guard to keep it clean. Getting the carpet out isn't to bad at all and worth it for a good detail job.

Hang it on the fence and take a small electric pressure washer to it. Blast the hell out of it, it will come clean. Carpet in these cars is tough. Don't worry about hurting it.

It is called red clay, and it is the consitancy of clay... I have found the best way to get it out is to take the carpet and spray it down with "Simple Green" and then scrub it with a good stiff brush.... Then take a hose and spray it off... and keep spraying until all of the soapy suds are gone... repeat as needed... if it has any oil stains, use some purple power... I had a terrible looking trunk carpet in my 84 LTD... had oil stains all over it... Looked like the guy used to keep quarts of oil in the trunk that leaked all over... I used some purple power.. and scrubbed the heck out of it... it now looks like new!
Like he said... scrub it really well... the carpets in these cars are tuff... unless it shows signs of dry rot... Then be a little caurful when scrubbing it..

The simple green is good for getting red clay out of / off of anything... I used to spray the under side of my 4X4, and then just hit it with the hose, and it would take it all off....
