Replace the entire interior? That's what I would have to do if I bought one that had been smoked in."Owning a 9-second Import is like coming out of the closet.... At first it may be surprising, but in the end, you're still gay!"

When I got my car it smelled of smoke bad. I just cleaned all the windows really good, used a good cleaner for the dash and door panels. I then got a air freshener from walmart that was like a disk. It smelled like oranges and had carbon in it to obsorb odors. It went away after that. I evently shampooed my interior but it was not needed to get rid of the smell.2000 Mustang GT "Blondie", 2000 CVPI "Sargent Crusty"

The only way to do it cheaply is go rent or buy an OZONE MACHINE. Run it in the cab with the doors and windows shut for two or three days. The smell will be completely gone. Have done three cars and it worked everytime. No cleaning or shampooing necessary (although, I'd recommend a good cleaning, anyway).

Shampoo the piss out of it :-D And vacume / disenfect anything that coulda got in contact with cig's or ashes... Like the ash trays top of the window's where the head liners are ect.. vacume all the carpet.. spray fabreeze in it a few times let it sit.. Then have your windows open for the rest of the day :-D all in all cost should be about 10 - 15 bucks for the shampoo and vacume at the local carwash :-D
I had to do it the other day when i was quiting smoking worked really really well :-DPeople should not be afraid of their governments. Governments should be afraid of their people.

scrubbing helps but if the previous owner smoked with the windows up all the time Id go for the ozone thing.
When I used to smoke (only quit for a month) I always kept the window at least cracked and held the cig close to it.Pete ::::>>> resident LED addict and CFI defector LED bulb replacements

A little Febreze goes a long way. You may even wanna spray some Febreze air freshener into the outside air intake with the air on vent-hi speed. Also in the passenger footwell/ hush panel area with the air on panel-hi speed. I've also tried leaving some ammonia in a small container with the car closed up, also tried baking soda. Both seemed to help. Those vent windows are really great for smokers though.sigpic

Shampoo and vacuum out the car. That ozone machines sounds like a good idea. I'd do that then clean it out. Then let the car air out for a day and put an air feshiner in it. That should work pretty well, My dad's old car belonged to a smoker, so he just vacuumed it and let it air out for a day or two. It got a lot of the smell out, but was still noticable. I'm sure if you give it a thorough cleaning, it'll smell like new.88 Town Car (wrecked, for sale)
