    Mainemantom's 1983 Mercury Grand Marquis 2 door

Here is a little history on this car. I bought this car on Ebay in April 2003. It was located in Brick New Jersey. Car had 78,200 miles on it then. I had it delivered to me in California in a 53ft semi trailer. Cost for shipping was $500. In 2007 I had it shipped to Maine when I moved from CA.for $1028. This car has the 302 with TBI. Cornering lights, tilt, cruise power driver seat, Leather interior, rear defogger am/fm cassette stereo. Aluminum spoke wheels, vinyl half top. It was built at the St Louis plant on July 1 1983. It has been repainted once. Mileage now is about 82,000 miles.
The car runs perfecty when it runs. The car quits running whenever it wants to. It is an electrical issue which may be as simple as a broken wire. It has been to a few shops here who just throw parts at it. I have found no one yet that I can trust to fix it right. I am horrible in fixing auto electrical issues or it would have been fixed long ago. It has been in my back garage. Last registered in 2014.
By now I think I will have to replace the gas tank from sitting. I have all maintenance records since I bought it. I put a new head liner, new right front seat cover and a new vinyl top in the car.
Here are some pictures. The picture of the torn driver seat was due to a careless mechanic. When I find someone I can trust, I will have the electrical issue fixed. This car is a joy to drive. I will consider selling this car to someone who will restore it.

Restore it? That thing is good to go as it is!

Nice to see one from St. Louis, haven't since I got rid of my '85. What happened with the seat? I always feel there is no recourse in situations like that, you just end up hosed. Can't stand when they lie to you about it either, as if you're stupid. There are no shops around me which I trust, but there are only so many whom can actually do the work correctly.

Nice to see you making reader's ride threads. Ever take a group photo of all your cars? That would be something to see.

"Restore it" = replace a few things (driver seat upholstry, gas tank, fuel pump - maybe switch to the later style - can't remember if the digital or analog sender is needed to work properly with the older gauges) and fix a few other issues... run it.
