Here is a little history on this car. I bought it on June of 2002. It had been retired from a Sheriff Department in San Diego, Ca. I got it with 138,000 miles on it. When the Department ordered it new, the person who did the ordering must have had their finger on the equipment delete button. It has the full police package, 302 motor, power windows, manual locks, vinyl seats, a/c, no rear window defrost, No power seat or tilt. No cruise control, Very little soundproofing, Rubber floor mat, Car runs very well. Rear end makes noise.
From when I bought it, I have done lots of maintenance and replace lots of trim, New poverty caps replaced the full wheel covers which were in poor shape.Replaced the front seat upholstery and frame. It now has factory cloth with power seat and tilt. The back seat is still vinyl. One of the options when ordered could have been a cloth front and vinyl rear seat. Last year Lincoln towncar front center arm rests with cup holders were added. Nice touch. I added aftermarket front bumper guards, New era correct metal housing spots lights, It has era correct Motorola police radio and a Regency scanner. Those are installed but are not operational. It is on it's second repaint from when I bought it. Color is 2003 Mercury Marauder Blue. Current mileage is about 150,000 New gas tank and sender and new dual exhaust Repaint was done this summer in the same color. I had it shipped to Maine from California in 2007.
Upcoming projects are to replace the speedometer gears again. New power steering pump as it leaks from the front. A 134 Ac changeover. R-12 is way too costly. Wire the car for xm radio.Maybe upgrade the stereo system. The Kenwood system is working fine however the it has the cassette player and the controls are getting harder for me to see. I have all the maintenance records from when I bought it. The build sheet is there. The first group of pictures show the prep for the last repaint and the latest pictures. Notice that the painter used plastic sheeting instead of paper when masking.
