    In my case the original fuel pump eccentric wouldn't fit with the F4TE truck roller cam I got. I think the cam dowel pin might be a bit longer on newer cams, or they don't have recess at the of the dowel.
    The motor already has a mechanical fuel pump. 1985 GTs had carburetors (unless it was an automatic, then it had CFI and a flat tappet cam).

    Just took the timing cover off today, the eccentric looks good.

      I have room (well sort of) so I'm keeping the original engine. I'm going to finally replace the rear main seal while it's out. Mostly out of spite.
