You can just route the belt around the smog pump and abandon it in place. If the pulley is in the way, it unbolts.
I think the vacuum connection thing came about later on. I don't recall seeing it on CFI cars.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

Usually located right side of the steering column under the dash. Look for the box with a speaker grill (lots of little holes in a circular pattern) on it. I think the stand alone cruise control modules are also located in that spot if equipped, but I could be mistaken on that one.

Now that the Mark VI is in the garage for the winter I've been fiddling around here and there with some little odds and ends. Still trying to get the brake light to go out, I removed the bulb from the dash awhile back. I got bored the other day and put the light back in and it's stuck on. I pulled the plug off the sensor on the proportioning valve and stuck a jumper wire in it and the light went out. I tried contact cleaner but when I plug it in the light still comes on. I'm guessing either the pressure switch is bad or it's sensing low pressure, the later doesn't make sense to me as the brakes are just fine. Is this pressure switch still available? And if so is replacing it going to get me into a situation where I have to bleed brakes?

its not actually a pressure switch. it reads whether the slide valve in the prop valve assembly is moved one way or the other. Either its not centered, or the switch is just bad. No idea if its available or not.
part number is D9BZ-2B254-A for all 80-83 Mark VI and basically everything else that uses that sort of valve assembly. Official name is "switch, brake pressure differential valve warning lamp"86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).
