Another thing done! Last week I worked with the emblems, but could not re-park the car, so no sensible photos were made, but! Here's something you might like.

So, I totally don't get the white/amber indicators on post-88 CVs. I am guessing that the clear ones were solely for the 91 model year... but that's just a guess. Nevertheless, I do not fancy clear ones, especially when they are a bit milky, and cracky. Sure, one can polish them a bit, but still, I prefer my cars to keep the amber indicators. It looks more USDM than the other option. So I decided to refresh the lamp bezels a bit. They were definitely not looking nice:






Notice how many "extra" screws have been placed there! Fortunately, I was able to unscrew all of them, and dismantle the set:





Got a transparent amber foil, and polished the clear parts. I might actually want to put additional "side" lightbulb there, but that's a plan for the future. As for now, I got these:



And I love them. A bit too grapefruit in colour, but still, they look like new!

That is a transparent foil turning the clear lenses back to your desired orange like color?

It came out so damn good.


For some odd reason 1979 got clear lenses and 1991. First and last years of box Crown Victoria.

Lenses only interchange between 79-87 and 88-91...with slight variations between 88-91 of mounting tabs and such...but all (88-91) interchangeable with minor persuasion I believe.

Yup, that's transparent foil. Not only do they have the right colour now, but also are "glossy", and the "milky" appearance is gone. And they are on the car now:

With both low beams the metal frame that goes around the headlight bulbs appears to be broken. Is is bulb bouncing around ?
The driver side amber /clear corner lamp is not fitting into the frame correctly on the fender side. I am comparing it with the passenger side.

Yup, the ornaments have already been placed, and they look well now. Hope to have some really ggood photos in the weekend. But let's focus on the lamps. Here's a better photo of the problem:



Apparently someone got headlight units that were too big... and cut the small metal frame so it moreover fits now. Unfortunately, you cannot position the lamp bezel well after it. So I took the wrong units out...


Got a brand new set of Neolite aftermarkets (some 8 dollars per piece?), and a set of spare frames...



And here we are! Now it starts to look nice. Just put the bezel on..


Now it looks like it should.


The second side was also switched.




Unfortunately, I do not have spare plastic headlights, and the high beam ones are in a sorry state. Got a set of used Hella headlights (6 dollars per piece...), I might want to install them. Or another Neolite set? Maybe that would be the best solution.

New headlights look nice sharp and clear. So I was correct noticing the metal frame around the old ones were cut.
Kinda surprised but glad you found new frames without going to a junk yard .
I would think a set of High beam Heolite bulbs would look good because the style would match.

Not much updates, but these are important updates. Last Sunday (well... it's Monday already, so the one before last, I guess?) the car was presented to the automotive specialist, who prepared the paperwork, and sent it to the Office for the Preservation of Antiques (or whatever this office is called in English). In a two months time, I should be able to re-register the car, and use it once again.

Another good news are that the tail seal has arrived, and can be picked whenever I want. I only have to visit Kraków, which is 40 km from my place now...

Good news: got the "white card", confirming that my CV is a classic car, and I can register it!
Bad news: the main document which states what was the decision of the antiques office refers to another car O_O

Apparently someone else received a decision for his MY'75 LTD, and they just did the ctrl-c + ctrl-v thing. G r e a t. I need to call them tomorrow then.

Waiting for the registration plate frame to arrive, hopefully soon. In the meantime, got this bad boy:




The plan is to put it atop and use the car as an overnight patrol car for the pastures. Amber lights are not prohibited, and the searchlights on this lightbar should be able to provide enough light in the dead of night. Maybe I should think of a second battery?

A bit of news...

Got the correct version of the documents mentioned in the post above. Now I only need to find some time to hit the transportation dept...

And started working on the backseat replacement. This one should cope with the original seats well:

Can you see the single difference between this and the old pictures, that cost almost as much as the car itself?

Also, I got a set of seals for the AOD "tail". The plan is now to install those, and refurbish the exhaust.

That was quick!

Yes. The car got registered yesterday - these are the temporary plates. They are only valid for the next month, within which I need to get the MOT. But I hope that will happen quite soon, and I can start using the car.
