Put the factory fogs back on. Brackets from the black Mark VII, 2 springs from 87VicGT, assorted Marchal parts from the box of random crap.
I also replaced the struts and strut mounts recently. Didn't get pics of the strut swap process but its really not that exciting. I did get some pics of the strut mounts before and after. Black washers are what were on the car, silver washers are new. Maybe not super obvious but the old mounts had a lot more lean to the strut. Pretty sure its because these mounts were designed for a 1000 lb lighter Ford Fairmont. Can't get the original Lincoln mounts anymore. The Continental and Mark VII had a unique strut mount that was way more beefy than the rest of the Fox platform. The aftermarket solution is basically to replace those with standard Fox mounts.
For reference, the original strut mounts look like this. The Continental still rocks originals at 190k. The white Mark VII went 170k on originals and is on it's third set in 60k. The black Mark VII went 225k on originals, and 20k later they were visibly distorted and off center.

I fixed the light right after I got home from that. About a week later for reasons I don't understand the air suspension compressor decided it wasn't able to get the job done anymore. Its currently got the one from the black car installed. I went through the other, seems like there was some dirt under the intake valve and it just wasn't making enough air volume. Pretty sure its sorted now but I haven't felt motivated to change it back over since things are working.
They aren't that bad to live with, but its definitely got more going on than say a Mustang. At least some of it can be ignored too, but I'm picky and want stuff to work. Normal people do not rebuild the flappy paddle radios just to have the proper stereo in the dash. That one actually has Bluetooth now, and its named "MarkVII" rather than some generic name. I bought a programmer specifically to allow me to do that. Only thing thats currently broken is the Distance To Empty function. Its open circuit at the dash, I don't know if it has the wrong fuel sender in it, a broken wire, or a bad but correct sender. The digital and analog dash cars got a different float assembly. The gas gauge works though so I really don't care enough to drop the tank. I faked out the DTE with a resistor so it would stop beeping at me every time I got in that it was out of gas. Now it just thinks its always got 200 miles worth in the tank. Even when that works right its horribly inaccurate, so basically unless the gauge breaks or the fuel pump dies and I'm forced to drop the tank, its going to remain how it is.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

I think these people are "supposed" to be good at fixing car OEM stereos (at least they were back 20 or more years ago). They used to (maybe still do) do the repairs for dealerships "back in the day"!

I always liked the MK VII. Always wanted a black with red interior or white with red. It would have to be well maintained though as those had abundant minor issues. Seems like you have a nice car. From the very good video, it seems like it isn't the car for you. It would look good next to my Towncars.

I had to stop about 1/4 of the way through the video, was quickly reminded why I don't watch his stuff anymore. "Ford should've stopped making these in 1981." "302 that could've made more power, but didn't." I like Mark VII's, they're great cars.
You'll have to get in line Tom, I've got first dibs on it.1985 LTD Crown Victoria - SOLD
