Thank you! I love the vent windows, as a smoker myself, they're great.

Went to the junkyard today. Surprising number of boxes there, including a 25k mile 87 Grand Marquis, that was absolutely mint. It's pretty picked over now, but very sad that it was there, makes no sense.

Grabbed some radio brackets, a tripminder, ashtray insert, some fuses, a few cigarette lighters, and a mint trunk carpet.

Still need to find that damn left rear bumper trim.

Ordered new speakers for front and rear, 100 feet of speaker wire, and some good connectors, gonna just throw a basic JVC with AUX that I have lying around in it for now. Pulled the dash pad, and soaked it down in 303 protectant, as it's not cracked but was hard, softened up and looks amazing now.

    George.

Beautiful day, got all my stereo parts. Got my plates and drove it the 45 miles to work, 67 degrees and sunny.

Window on the passenger side is stuck down now. LOL, oh well, it's nice out. Gonna have to look at that tomorrow. No sound, nothing moving, tried the door slam trick no luck. Ahhh I've missed old cars

Your GM looks really sharp. Great job.
Was that low mileage Gm you found in the wrecking yard a red one ?? A friend of mine sent me a picture of one about a month ago. It was mint.

          Thanks!

Yes, it was red, down at LKQ in Blue Island. Pretty picked over now, but it is astoundingly clean. Sad.

Well got the radio work done. New wire ran to all four, Kenwood 6x9 for the rear, and 5 inchers up front. Sounds great. Also got the window fixed.

The stock crappy radio wiring is one thing I don't love about these earlier ones. Stupid common ground to the amplifier, wtf. Only bright point, its not common ground from the amp to the front speakers, so with a little clever cut and splice work the old amp can yield a connector that lets you tie a trunk mounted amp to the front speakers without running extra wire through the car.

Huh interesting. Well I decided to prewire for an amplifier and subwoofer just in case. I've never actually had them in any car I own, but I was only taking the interior apart once. Lol

There's a about 5 year old JVC in there for now. Works fine, but doesn't have a USB in or handsfree so when the Kenwood I want becomes available, that'll go in. Sounds really damn good I was surprised. Has an Auxiliary input so it'll do for the time being.

Need to do the plastic thingies on the rear door windows as both are toast. Maybe next weekend. Drove it to work today and it'll be going back in the garage tomorrow, supposed to be rainy coke Tuesday, then turn colder. Oh well, was a nice weekend cruising. Put 400 miles on it.

As soon as we have consistently good weather I will!

Looks nice until Friday. Gonna drive the piss out of it until then, then it goes back to hibernation until a good rain and warm weather!

Well had some more junkyard luck today.

87 Red on Red Marquis at Victory Auto Wreckers in Bensenville, Ill.

Got the bumper trim I needed, a passenger side window switch plate, as the ashtray latch on mine was broken, and a non peeling turn signal stalk. 10 bucks, I was happy!

All that for 10 bucks? Nice. Hard to find non-peely stalks.

Yeah! $10.84, usually the yards around here are pretty cheap which is nice. Just getting a lot harder to find boxes is the issue.

Couldn't leave the non destroyed stalk. Added it to my collection, so I have 2 good turn signal ones, and one good washer stalk in reserve, for the inevitable peeling.

Me too. My brother thinks it's so wierd I stop to take pics of every interesting car in the yard lol.

Figures literally EVERY car had the same wire hubcaps, but all of the center caps were missing. I need one, just my luck !
