This is it exactly, and it's so weird the generations it skips. Hell lots of people my age have this attitude and I just can't understand. That said, my kid brother is the same way while the rest of us work our asses off.

Okay, I may be wrong about the twice-destroyed mirror, once may have been the son, other his wife, and may have been on the two different trucks now that I think about it. Anywho, he's currently driving a 05-06-ish Escalade (was working at the local ford garage as a grease monkey, but the dealership just got bought out by a huge prick group, I think he's got a new job at a tire shop that does both normal and big rig tire fixes). My brother might be giving him the ratted out '90 TC I'm trading him and telling him to buy his own replacement if/when he kills it. He haaaates the '90 body style.

Awesome. I'd try and address the oil issue soon. You may end up clogging your cats if it continues.
Take it from a multi-time pro.

I like the '90 TC style over the styles that followed later. I'm a box/pushrod kinda guy.

Your story reminds me of my spoiled cousin. He trashed everything given to him and his mom just continued to fuel his fire by buying him more shit to trash. All a guy can say is I'm glad I have more respect for stuff than that type of person.

Okay, list of work done on the car so far, in no particular order.
              -Cleaned it out
-Upper Ball Joint, Passenger Side (found a new one in the car when we cleaned it out, JESU CHRISTO)
              -New Tires
              -Alignment
              -tie rod end
-steering shaft soaked and freed up/lubed the fuck out of it (was binding)
              -outer left taillight bulb
-exhaust flanges needed welded (both) up by the cats/o2 sensors or wherever

Still to do (well have done, because I'm lazy and weather)
-Shocks (no wonder the kid destroyed a set of 70k mi tires in a little over a year with the above problems)
-it's had a varyingly-bad miss sometimes, but not under heavy throttle, finally it threw a CE light and it comes up #1 cylinder, so it's a plug or a coil on plug probably
-Blend door actuator is pooched, so the thing roasts you out of the car at any setting, found a place to do it $350-ish or whatever, well under $500+book rate

Apparently my brother's two youngest kids LOVE how the TC rides, and completely soaks up road imperfections.

The blend door actuator looks scary, but it's not. I've done a few and they are more bark and bite.

I found a video on YT that says to pull the dash forward & grope blindly to get the bolts out, but with a 1/4 12" extension and swivel coupling you can access the 4th through a couple of holes in the dash itself. Sounds like a good way to save $350 (best price found so far) 5 hours book time vs 2 hours cheater method. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3htiFQYyg_s

Gotta google up how to clear the EATC codes though before trying it out.
