Brakes be purty simple... It's either a leak or air still in the line somewhere or potentially vacuum assist going in and out. What have you replaced so far? You look at the back brakes to see if the wheel cylinders are schmoozing? You used silicone for what, the slide pins?

Also, if you did the calipers did you put them on the right sides? The bleeder screw should be at the top, above wherever the line goes in so air can make it's way out.

I siliconed the leaks at the proportioning valve and it seemed to stop the leak (small dribble from the brake switch from all indications is a shot proportioning valve, currently attempting to source a new one).

Bled the brakes and there is no air in the front ones anyways. Front is where I've been having all of my issues.

Replaced the master cylinder and both of the hard lines from the proportioning valve to the soft brake lines. Replaced the soft brake lines in the front.

      Brake calipers are on correctly.

I'm wondering if the booster isn't going out. That would explain why acceleration/highway driving brings the brakes back.

Welp, there's your problem. No way that's holding back all the PSI. Replace that and see how she goes. Junkyard is your friend here. Even if it's rusty, so long as it's dry just snip the metal lines and get on the hex heads with a socket and you'll be in like honey on McNuggets.

Junkyards in town have none. Gotta plan a trip outside of town, but weary with the brakes I had.

Checked under the good today...I didn't fasten my master cylinder cap back on last night after I bled the brakes. Doh. Put it on right and rebled the brakes, a little squishy but not too bad.

Squishy can mean air in the lines. When you pump up the brakes and hold does the pedal go down any or does it hold steady? I wouldn't trust any silicon on the brake system, there is way to much pressure.

If I pump the brakes up with the car off they will firm up, with it on they will stay squishy squish. I found out I've been chasing the wrong end of the system. Apparently I got my fronts fixed, now to chase the rears.

Okay, so the first pedal push is trash, then it gets much much better (almost like a normal brake pedal would feel) and then it slowly goes fades as I drive

Sounds like the rear cylinders are leaky, and/or the brake shoes are way out of adjustment. Too much gap and you'll get a lot of pedal travel. There is a residual valve in the system that holds a small amount of pressure in the back, meant to keep the seals from letting go and leaking on you. If there is too much shoe gap, the residual will help overcome that but if you've got leaky cylinders, that will slowly go away.

If you've never done so, drive in reverse and hit the brakes a bunch of times. If by some miracle the auto adjuster hasn't seized up or failed in another way, it will tighten the shoes up.

Fun fact. It wasnt the proportioning valve. Its the spot between the master cylinder and brake booster falling on the valve

Time to replace both. Thats a joy, getting those bolts all out. Very uncomfortable to get under the dashboard, especially if you're on the fat side like me.

Bad brake booster - will just get the combo sometime in the near future. It leaks off vacuum.

After a little travel on the turnpike the car no longer misses unless my foot is on the brake pedal for a long time (maybe something to do with the vacuum booster?)

Anyways, 24 mpg without bucking the wind doing 85 on the turnpike...not too shabby.

More of an accident on the subs than an actual cause. I picked up a pair of used subs and just wung it. Turns out they were a wee bit louder than I thought they were.

Exhaust isn't bad unless I rev it, which I don't do because I need my neighbors to pretend to like me.
