I like this thread. Both cars appear to be clean enough that it shouldn't give you many problems to swap.

35* and sunny today, my kind of working weather!
Pulled the whale body off:
Some pics of the 04 chassis,
Rear shot:
Rear suspension, no poverty coils for me!
Trans and engine:
Nice front suspension (minus swaybar):
Now I need to start ripping the 89 apart before I can get anymore work done.
Still need to hang onto the 04's body for it's firewall, so out to the woods it goes.

I think we need some pics of a box frame next to the 03+ frame. I can see some obvious differences, but I don't think I've ever seen a side by side comparison.1990 MGM: $50 E7 heads, HO cam, Holley SysteMAX lower intake, HO upper intake with an Explorer TB. LSC ECM. Lincoln logs into stock dual exhaust. K&N drop in air filter. Wide ratio AOD, 2400 converter with a 3.08 one tire fire out back. Car is less slow now. Then there's the '92 Beater. Dual 2.25" exhaust with shiny tips. Rumbles nice. Super slow. Burns oil too.

Any plans to get one of those ARP watts studs from ADTR? I think Chris has a few left.

Top clips on the air springs are interesting. I don't believe they used to use a clip like that86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).
5.0 HO, CompCams XE258,Scorpion 1.72 roller rockers, 3.55 K code rear, tow package, BHPerformance ported E7 heads, Tmoss Explorer intake, 65mm throttle body, Hedman 1 5/8" headers, 2.5" dual exhaust, ASP underdrive pulley

Honestly, I'll probably leave the suspension stock for now. Once the cars together I'll worry about if I want to upgrade it further. For now I'm trying to keep this swap as cheap as possible.

Lately I've been swapping whale rears and those top clips for the air springs look stock to me.
Just like all the others I've seen so far.
Also, those are the weaker air springs 89 lbs/inch, which are what sports came with.
The HPP's have the stiffer ones, 102 lbs/inch.
Great project, I'm tempted to try this swap myself.Last edited by mcninetyone; 12-21-2014, 12:34 PM.

Small update, double checked the rear bumper is a direct bolt on, it is. Just need to swap the box bumper shocks in the 04 frame and it bolts right up. Front bumper doesn't work though as the 03+ frame is much narrower, so really it doesn't matter if you do this swap on a CV or GM, as it needs to be refuckulated. Not 100% sure what I'll do yet, as you can't just move the mounts inward on the 88-91 bumper. Probably just make a plate to adapt the two.
Rear bumper mocked up, again a direct bolt on:
One bolt on each side holds the bumper shocks in, just unbolt them and they come right out:
Box vs whale bumper shocks:
Now onto the front, you can't really just move the mounts inward like Serge did, as the 88-91 inner bumper support angles inwards right at the mounts. That's a bridge I'll cross when I get there.
79-87 aluminum inner bumper support vs 88-91 inner support:
