    The 92 CVLX pt. II

Picked this up yesterday for $500. I had no intention of buying another panther but it was too good to pass up, and reminded me too much of my old 92. Bastard block 4.6's just seem to like me.

    The good:
    55K miles
    Brand new tires all around
    New front pads/rotors/caliper
    Very clean interior
    Good exterior

    The bad:
    AOD is smoked
    Header panel is dicked
Rustier then I'd like underneath, but the frame and floor pans are solid

I have a few good spare AOD's laying around, so I plan to throw one in. Might just flip it, might drive it through the winter, might end up keeping it, not sure yet. I don't want to modify it in anyway or spend more than a $100 on it though. Already replaced the cracked pass side highlight with one from my old 92, and swapped in the xtra vision sylivians I had in my old 92.

    Home sweet home:

Interior: (unfortunately grey and not porno red like my old 92)

    Trunk is nice and clean:

    I missed this view:

    Dicked nose:

Otherwise nice body with very good paint:

    Muh bastard block:

AOD's dead with only 55K? TV grommet failure?

Or did the odometer gears fail many moons ago?
1990 MGM: $50 E7 heads, HO cam, Holley SysteMAX lower intake, HO upper intake with an Explorer TB. LSC ECM. Lincoln logs into stock dual exhaust. K&N drop in air filter. Wide ratio AOD, 2400 converter with a 3.08 one tire fire out back. Car is less slow now. Then there's the '92 Beater. Dual 2.25" exhaust with shiny tips. Rumbles nice. Super slow. Burns oil too.

Nope, TV grommet failure, was a dead give away when the guy told me "the kickdown cable fell off"

its clean, I'll give it that. Honestly I've never been keen on the 92 nose though. Makes it look like an oversized Taurus.

              It's an oversized RWD Taurus.

Sadly it will most likely end up with a 93-97 nose anyways.

Considering that you paid little more than scrap value, you should be getting your money's worth in no time. What a score!

Did some poking around today. Brakes out back look newer as well, PO told me the rears only had 10k on them and I'd have to agree, rotors are ok, pads have tons of life. All the floor pans and trunk have some surface rust but are solid, no holes anywhere. Rockers passed the finger test with no holes present. Frame is solid everywhere but the usual suspect, passenger side bulkhead. It was ok until the hammer test, only 2 quarter size holes, but I'll weld on some reinforcement anyways. It has a new y pipe, original muffler and tailpipe are solid still, downpipes and manifolds are good, no exhaust leaks at all. I popped the oil cap and peaked inside, absolutely spotless, looks brand new. Front end is tight as can be, with no signs of memory steer. All in all it's what I expected pretty much. The car was undercoated new which I think helped save it. If i decided to keep it I'll Fluid Film it drive it through winter, and take it from there.

Wow! Easily the nicest '92 I've seen in a long, long time. Last one I saw had peeling paint and lots of scrapes. Same color as yours, actually. I love how your '92 somehow still has clearcoat left. They look a million times better without baked and faded paint.

The usual problem areas look great too. It's so damn hard to find an aero around here without issues in the wheel wells and rockers. Good idea to fix the minor frame rot before she sees winter again. To quote 79lincolnlover "rust never sleeps"....

Regarding styling? I'm partial to the '92 front fascia, but the '93-'94 looks quite nice too. Urgh. Stop making me want to buy a '92-'94!

Oddly even my old 92 had good clear coat while I drove it on the road. Buy the time I scrapped it though, the roof and top of the doors were gone. Also, Medium Cranberry is a really common color on 92's it seems.
92-94 CV's are my favorite aeros, but that's mostly because my old 92 was my first road legal car.

This car is a lot cleaner then my old 92 was.
