Worked on it a bit last night.
Get this. So I crawled underneath last night to assess the undercarriage and to my surprise the pinion seal had been leaking for a good amount of time and boy was it a bad leak. So I went on getting my 12mm and taking the drive shaft out and burst out laughing when the pinion actually started leaking gear oil out of it when the drive shaft was off. I went on my way, sawzawed some of the exhaust, cut the majority of the harness out of my way in the front. I'm planning to pull motor and trans, then pull the body with all of the interior pieces still in it, so I can just leave it all nicely within the shell. Then I'll go about getting a limited slip, 31 spline axle out of a newer car. This one is a Z5 which would be 3.27 open, now this is an upgrade from my old 3.08 open - I want both tires to spin this time around, so I can do donuts and burn outs. I've still got a Timken rebuild kit laying around, 3.73s and a girdle. But I may just stick with a 3.55/3.27 LSD rear since boost would do bad things with 3.73s. Like skating across the highway when trying to pass someone. Hopefully within a week or two, I'll have my box body on. Need to get some bolts and order the bushings. $$$__________________________________________________

Bushings were ordered, body is almost ready to come off the frame. Likely going to pull the motor and transmission tomorrow. I only have been working on it a couple hours at a time so far. Going to call a brake shop that's local to me and see what it'll cost to get a full set of drilled and dotted rotors for the car. Then probably use HAWK HPS pads. Body will likely be coming off sooner than I anticipated, but it's just so damn easy work.
The box needs two more body bolts taken out an the harness and parking brake cable removed before it's able to be lifted off.
Took a glance at the whale motor mounts. It's going to be interesting to fab up some brackets for SBF mounts but shouldn't be a big issue.__________________________________________________

Well here's the update.
Got the body off, pulled the engine and started prepping the frame for THE swap.
My dad brought the mini excavator down so that it could be brought to a job so I figured it was an opportune time to jump in and do what I needed to.
About a couple hours later I went down and started taking the motor out.
And picked up some 2006 Mustang GT seats for it.

Just make sure halfway through the swap you don't accidentally realize you no longer like these cars and then stop working on it.2020 F250 - 7.3 4x4 CCSB STX 3.55's - BAKFlip MX4

Update for tonight, 2/22/16
Frame has second coat of paint on it, I'm going to wait until I swap the body onto the frame and then I'm going to pull the front suspension and paint under all of that thoroughly. While I'm at it, I'll proceed to assess and fix what's needed in the front end, I already found a broken swaybar end link and a broken coil ::Shrug:: no biggie. I'm using Rust Oleum gloss black paint that's meant to only be used on metal. I used this when I did the stock frame for the 85' last year and was impressed with how well it held up to putting 7,000 miles on it during the summer. Car won't see winter so I feel no true need to use Por 15 or any of that jazz. If it ever becomes a concern, it'll get grinded down and re painted.
This is back breaking work, two days of grinding and two days of painting, bending over for a few hours at a time really fucks the lower back. I don't know how pornstars do it.
Some of my parts came in, MOOG end links, a set of craftsman line wrenches (I prefer to have all matching tools in my box) and a cupholder I will use when I build my center console. It's out of a Lincoln LS, I plan to cut out the parking brake and traction control switches and replace them with different things. Haven't decided what exactly yet.
