That's scary. I had the car matted for at least 2 miles and never felt a governor kick in or anything hold the car back. And took a LOT of brake application to get that needle back within the readable range.

So if I wanna go fast, real fast, Ricky Bobby fast, I best get myself a 4R70W huh?

my uncle's 92 hpp was limited to 110... and would drop you down to 55 if you hit the limiter before letting you hammer it again.

How about an aluminum drive shaft and a racetrack?

Is that what you meant earlier by output shaft?

Welcome back! I like my 302s. I like the good valve seals/guides. :p
Also, If you can't do R12, retrofit the A/C to R134a... Both my 86 Vic and my 92 Grand Marquis have R134a. My Mark VII still has R12. They are all freaking ridiculously cold!

              No.
The output shaft is part of the transmission.
The aluminum drive shaft lightens the rotational mass and decreases the stress on your shorter output shaft.

+1 on R134a. I have it in my car and it's great. Good luck finding R12 at a price that's not horrendously expensive.

I heard a rumor about a year ago that the EPA will mandate a new type of refrigerant to replace R134a. Not sure if it's true.

John, did you simply vacuum out the system and then fit the new, er, fittings and charge? Or did you mettle with any of the pressure switches? (i.e. the one that kicks the compressor on and off)

Put ester oil in the system, new fittings vacuum and recharge.

                      Going to do just that.

I must say, actual handling and road manners are above and beyond what my boxes were capable of; that said, this car still leaves a lot to be desired in the handling department. What can I do about it?

                      Poly bushings?
                      Sway bars?
                      Stiffer springs?
                      Higher damping rate shocks?
                      All of the above?

If so, what parts are swappable and what aren't? I'm pretty new to the '90's panther, so if I can be pointed in the right (read: performance, not comfort) direction, I'd be quite grateful. I don't need that Mercury ride, what I need is a boat on rails.

You on drugs son? The suspensions were identical, save for a standard dinky rear sway bar on the aeros. They used the same shocks, springs and shit for years. Hell they used the same steering components till 2002 lol. The aeros used the same rear suspension set up to the T of a box. Why do you think you can swap the entire rear axle from one into a box with zero modifications?

Don't forget they mounted the front bar to the uppers instead of the lowers.
1990 MGM: $50 E7 heads, HO cam, Holley SysteMAX lower intake, HO upper intake with an Explorer TB. LSC ECM. Lincoln logs into stock dual exhaust. K&N drop in air filter. Wide ratio AOD, 2400 converter with a 3.08 one tire fire out back. Car is less slow now. Then there's the '92 Beater. Dual 2.25" exhaust with shiny tips. Rumbles nice. Super slow. Burns oil too.

If that's truly the case, then both of my boxes' suspension were ROACHED. That said, I still want better cornering and stability. What kind of sway bars and spring upgrades are available?

Police spec stuff would be better. Marauder bar might be better than that, but not sure if that stuff will work since they changed the front suspension.

                                Negs.
Only the Marauder rear sway bar will work.
Good luck finding an aero cvpi away bar. They are few and far between. I'm still looking for one.
I just did poly bushings, Jun gas-a just, moog springs and ball joints in the Tank. I'd love to tell you how different it feels, but it still hasn't left my garage since I installed them two weeks ago. (paint is drying on the car now).
I am doing rear polys, moog wagon springs, and kyb gas-a,just struts.
I'll save that project for a couple weeks.
If you want aftermarket Addco away bars, check out ADTR.net.
They have a bunch if good stuff there.
                                Ok. Im tired.
