As much as I love my WJJL, I can sacrifice it in one of my cars.

I was planning on gutting the bumpers on my car; thats a good idea. I pulled all the sound deadening from under the carpet, elmintaed the shoulder belts (aircraft style lap belts), a/c, smog, battery in the trunk; I was going to gut the hood a little as well, but I wanted it to remain structurally sound. At least until I have a big motor under there, with a high rise intake.
Wheels are a big thing. Mine are bombs right now (heavy as 18s), but I'd like to get a set of cold forged aluminum wheels. 1 pound of unsprung weight is equivalent to 4 pounds of sprung weight.
I like a good drag street car, but I need to have carpeting and upholstery in the interior. That really helps to fool the unsuspecting saps on the street.
I'd really look for a set of cheap 3.73s or 4.10s, though. And a good converter is worth its weight in gold. I understand the budget, though. But poke around on Ebay for those gears! Install that HO grind straight up with the 1.7s, and let it pull to 6K.**2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302: 5.0/ 6 spd/ 3.73s, 20K Cruiser

Good thing it didn't use a plastic pressure line eh??? I'm surprised it still showed a reading on the gauge...
And holy corroded coil post!!!!!!!! And I thought the one on my 85 was bad when it looked like a little golf ball!
It ran good, so I guess I never took a look at ignition stuff. How did the spark plugs look? lol...Pete ::::>>> resident LED addict and CFI defector LED bulb replacements

I'm trying to keep this as much of a spare parts build as possible. I've set a max budget of $2000 total for this project, $500 of which was already spent on the car.
I just looked up the original trans thread, looks like it is a 2400 stall convertor. If I can find some 4.10's for cheap enough I'll jump on them. I don't think it's worth spending any money on 3.73's when I already have 3.55's.
For rims I'm going to run the stock police steelies, dog dishes and all. I'm debating on drag radials. I'm thinking some 235/60/15's which would give me a slight gearing advantage. Or 255/60/15 which the same height as the stock 225/70/15's.
I want this car to appear bone stock as well. How it looks right now is how I'm leaving it. Just a beat old cop car with faded paint. The interior is in OK shape and staying how it is. I may delete the carpet because it's completely worn through on the drivers side.
Currently I'm shooting for mid 14's. I know that is slow as hell in today's world, but for a parts bin special it will tide me over.2020 F250 - 7.3 4x4 CCSB STX 3.55's - BAKFlip MX4

I've torn down a 460 I have, but thats as far as I'm going with that right now; thats a major finacial hit to get a big block together (the headers and tranny are big coin as well). I'd much rather mess with this little 302, since its fresh and all. I could do a head and cam swap, and still be way ahead financially. Probably the TW170s, and an Anderson grind (as aggressive as possible without PTV issues). I always have the 5 speed in the back of my mind, too.
I love the budget beater theme, especially with the whipped out exterior appearance. Drag radials will nix any traction issues you have, and may be a crutch for tired bushings and such. My buddy dead hooks his 500 rwhp/ 600rwtq Lightning on M&Hs. And once my NT05Rs get warm, they bite hard.
I'm following this closely. Really neat build idea!**2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302: 5.0/ 6 spd/ 3.73s, 20K Cruiser

Finally was warm enough to wash the dirty bastard. Paint is definitely shot but we're not in this for looks. I'm not sure what those two white mystery cans were in the trunk but they worked great for removing the tougher mold. Faded, checked and cracked, but good enough for me. Also removed the chrome/rubber door molding as it was in awful shape.

I must say that roundy box vics look really nice (re: clean) with a side molding delete.

Ah, the mystery cans. They were in the trunk when I got it too. My best guess would be glass cleaner or foam wheel cleaner. If your wash water running off looked like milk, it was probably wheel cleaner... lolPete ::::>>> resident LED addict and CFI defector LED bulb replacements

Ok, spent some money!
Bought these 2.5" offset/offset IMCO welded racing mufflers for $19 each on clearance on Summit. Typical chambered knockoff design but they are actually of decent quality of a china muffler.
