mine did that stock... after the WR rebuild, 47 (2.73 rear gears)... after the 3.55 gears, 37.

It's amazing that this car barely left the area it was bought it new - the dealer tag on the back is some hackers r us Used Car Lot.

I cannot even fathom someone thinking that car was derby ready - and it went up to New York for it? Glad you saved it. How did you come into finding it/rescuing it from a demo guy? Did you roadtrip down to the used car lot to buy it?

IIRC it was Rad (a member here) buddies car. Someone had brought it up to PA where it sat for a few years, and then somehow it ended up within 15mins of my house. Was too good to pass up. I may end up selling it come spring as I know it would go to a good home and I really have no use for it, but at the same time I know I would never find another rust free Tudor this clean for anywhere near what I paid for it.

It would make the most logical sense to sell it, but I'm going to turn this into a nice reliable, yet fun Daily Driver instead. Time to go under the knife.

I see 1979 clears and a new bumper and I suspect the 82 grille installed for the time being.

79 clears, 80 bumper, 82 grille, LTD script lenses, and 79 plate bucket have been on for a while now (well the bumper is still off). But tjc78 is dead on.

So I've finally dug out all the aprts I'll be using on this. Mind you, everything I'm using I had lying around, the only new things I've bought are some hoses, (this car still had the factory heater hoses, belts ect...), paint, and a new harmonic balancer.

The engine combo is pretty basic...

                    Stock lopo bottom end
                    Stock e7's
                    HO cam straight up
                    Stock SEFI lower
                    Stock HO upper
                    Bored lopo EGR spacer
                    Explorer TB
                    1.7 rr's
                    ASP underdrive pulley
                    90 TC manifolds
                    Stock duals
                    Stock SEFI airbox, ect...
                    4 hole 19# injectors
Smog pump delete (but all other emission components present and accounted for)
D9S computer with complete 88' SEFI wiring

Transmission will be my wide ratio AOD with a 2400 stall B&M

Rear end will be the 95k mile K-code out of my 87 wagon. 3.55's and a trac-lok with 11" drums should compliment the rest of the combo well

The engine is that 75k lopo I bought from LincolnLarry. I originally planed to use it in the battle wagon, but it told me it wants to hit 300k on it's lopo, and you never argue with the battle wagon. I've torn it all apart and I must say, this is the cleanest 302 I've ever seen inside. It must have been babied and had the oil changed every 3k. Absolutely spotless inside.

Heads are bone stock untouched 50k mile e7's off a ~92 T bird. I just cleaned some carbon out of them and plugged the thermactor ports.

Everything else is just crap I have laying around. I know the factory lower intake sucks, but some how I've ended up with 9 of them, so I must use at least one.

I have better parts, but I'm not building a race car, just a reliable daily driver that can at least get out of it's own way. Easier to work on, more reliable, much better drivability, and ~100 horses over the stock CFI. All for ~$100.

Ooooo, this sounds interesting. Love the listed parts. This just might be a good recipe for a reliable box.

And I agree that, the battle wagon is not to be messed with. I'm sure it has the upper hand in the relationship

Damn near the same combo I've gathered up.

Except I'll be using the HO TB and stock rockers and no underdrive pulley.

And I found me a Systemax lower.

I haven't found a torque converter yet. Let me know how yours performs. I'm probably going with 3.55's as well.
1990 MGM: $50 E7 heads, HO cam, Holley SysteMAX lower intake, HO upper intake with an Explorer TB. LSC ECM. Lincoln logs into stock dual exhaust. K&N drop in air filter. Wide ratio AOD, 2400 converter with a 3.08 one tire fire out back. Car is less slow now. Then there's the '92 Beater. Dual 2.25" exhaust with shiny tips. Rumbles nice. Super slow. Burns oil too.

I think think this will be a kick ass reliable engine for this car. Nothing special, but no dicking around with mass air swaps, ect...
I have 2 sets of good gt40p's but what's the sense when I'm using factory duals and Lincoln logs?

Again, it's ~100 more horses than the stock CFI boat anchor, even a stock lopo SEFI swap would have been an upgrade.

I'd use an HO TB, but I have none laying around, yet have 3 Explorer ones laying around

I had this convertor and trans in my 87, it kicked ass in that car, and this weighs about 500 lbs less, so I'm betting it will work even better.

That sounds like a nice combo. Should even be reasonable on fuel.

85 4 door 351 Civi Crown Victoria - Summer daily driver, sleeper in the making, and wildly inappropriate autocross machine

waiting for install: 3.27's, Poly bushings, boxed rear arms, 2500 stall converter, ported e7's, etc

Let me know if you ever want to get rid of the CFI intake and TB.
