    Just Bought a 2000 Townie!

Came across this yesterday and after looking it over, and driving it for awhile I decided to buy it. Car is a silver 2000 Town Car Signature Series with pretty much every option possible except the Cartier only stuff. Heated seats, sun roof, all that crap.

Current mileage is 152XXX and it needs some little things that a junkyard trip can cure:

-A wheel and tire (lip on one of the wheels is broken off at the outer lip, air holds though)

-None of the power windows work so I assume its probably a fuse of some kind, or the switch since they're all dead.

-Idler arm needs a bushing, will probably do some other bushings and get an alignment with new tires soon.

-And the WORST part, the passenger fender has a terrible, and I mean TERRIBLE bondo job. I'm not too concerned though because fenders can come off, and if not, I can do it over.

A few other things but for the most part its pretty solid. Car runs great, shifts great. I'll be giving it a tune up soon just so I know where its at, along with an oil change.

I will definitely be asking some questions on this one, since it is the first car I have owned that is not older than I am
I only have a few good pics of it right now, and will for sure have more. I got the car Friday evening, and it was out of state so I can't really drive it until I get it tagged on Monday when the clerks office is opened.

I'd be happier when I can finally drive it, lol. It's supposed to be cold tomorrow and I need those heated seats ha.

And thanks man I like the wheels too but one needs replaced. I'm hoping I can find another. I like the executive wheels on these as well.

Yep I'm still keeping my box vic. The aerostars gonna be for sale once I put a water pump in it. I've been driving the vic but when I get this tagged ill be driving it and that'll give me time to put more into the vic.

I'm definitely keeping that and while I don't rely on it to get to school and work ill be able to go over the body and do some more performance mods.

I plan on building up my 85 into a sleeper and keeping the lincoln mostly stock. (I say that now) But so far I'm pretty impressed with the power/throttle response of the 4.6

Thats the same thing my decission was based on. Less cars, more time+money for my box.

                    Thanks guys!

Finally got to drive it today and I'm pretty happy with it. It did pretty well in the snow and rain too which I wasn't really expecting. Also I filled it up and tripminder said I was gettin about 26 on the highway so I'm definitely pleased with that

It is in need of an oil change and next non rainy day I get I'll be doing that. The oil light was coming on and off and the oil was at a reasonable level. However it is pretty dirty and window sticker says it was done at 147k (152 now).

I'm hoping its just the filter or possibly the sending unit/sending unit connector.

I know the timing tensioners can wear and clog the oil pump screen but I don't hear any noises from the engine indicating that they are worn. I have heard this noise on other town cars I had looked at.

Usually the oil light comes on when your low on oil. Of the oil is between the hash marks on the dipstick and the light is
still in replace the oil level sensor

It usually comes on when there is about 1.5 quarts left.
I know from many past experiences.

I did a full oil/filter change today and after driving a little it went off. So hopefully it'll stay off. Also did the fuel filter so now just some spark plugs and a junk yard trip and ill be set. Idler arm bushing shouldn't be that bad.

my check oil light pops up with about 2 quarts and a bit in. takes about 2 to get in the hashes and a half more to get near the top.
