If you want vinyl, do it. Now you have options for treating/coating the roof, before putting on the vinyl. So rust should not be an issue. Especially if you arnt driving in the winter salt.

I just had a random thought. Since you have the same bolt circle as a GM B-body, true-spoke cadillac rims would look cool. Just delete the emblem. Those rims can be found at a decent price.

I bet they would look pretty good. If it were me, I'd slap a set of turbines on with a WW tire. I don't think the IV ever came with them from the factory, but I've seen it done and it looks good.

Yeah, those look pretty good. I thought about getting some real true-spokes but they're pricey. The Lincoln had true-spokes at some point in its life, I found boxes of those locking lugs in the trunk.

You're right, I'm not going to worry about the rust, and I'll get a new vinyl top. It looks like I'll get my car back on Monday.

As far as turbines go, I think the Mark V's had them.

Yeah the Mark Vs definitely had them, I believe any turbine from a 77-79 Mark or Continental should work on your IV.

Just wondering, do you plan on upgrading to better mufflers in the future? If you like a quiet ride you can swap in some turbo mufflers that flow better than stock and are only mildly louder. Even the cheapest Thrush Turbo's you can get at a parts store will be a big help and still be silent cruising.

Now that you mention it, I probably will put some better mufflers on in the future. My main concern was getting the cats and resonators off. It sounds pretty good now, but I'd like it to be just a little louder, but not too loud. I do like a quieter ride. How much do you think they will help?

I'm also wondering how I would go about installing a new carb, I'm thinking about an edelbrock 700cfm. Would I have to put in a new manifold too?

My brother has a rusty 95 Accord V6, and his exhaust got so bad it broke off, the muffler had so much water in it that the weight of it caused it to break the pipe, so I tore it off the rest of the way. Now i'll tell you that with no muffler that DOHC V6 would fly down the road but it was way too loud. I had a shop install new pipe from the cat back, same diameter but got a cheap Summit Turbo muffler welded in.

It has a little more low end to it but you can feel it more in the top end, pulls easier. It sounds the same at idle and cruise but when it gets past 2000 you can hear it more, not much more than stock but just a tad. You can hear it better if you're standing behind the car. It also has the stock cat with well over 200,000 miles on it and it's tiny 2" pipe (should have gone to 2.25" but he wanted it done cheap as possible). Since you have 2.25" dual pipe and no cats, the difference it sound will be much more so, but I guarantee you it won't be too loud. I've got a friend with a 79 Trans Am and he has dual 2.5" pipe, no cats and turbo mufflers and there's barely any rumble to it, so I think you'd like it.

I had BBK shorties, o/r H-pipe on my 87 Mustang and that was 2.5", it reduced to 2.25" after into Borla Turbo mufflers, they were same side exit mufflers (like a u-turn) and then another u-turn so the pipe came out the side in front of each wheel at a 45. That setup had no rumble at all below 2000rpm, probably due to all the bends but it shows that it takes a lot to make turbo mufflers loud.

Thanks man, that sounds coo. I'll look at some turbo mufflers one day. Its hard to picture the setup on that Mustang.

I forgot to mention that the Lincoln is done! And it looks awesome. I'll take some pictures and put them up soon.
