That is precisely what I did before I got another vehicle.

I would upgrade the suspension using police car parts. Springs, shocks, Front and rear sway bars, control arms, larger brakes. Transmission and oil coolers Maybe find a 140 certified speedometer. Parts are available from 1979-1991 police cars. I did two Towncars, and a MGM 2 door which is in storage and I am working on another 83 MGM 2 door. Amazing difference ! You found a nice car. Keep it out of the snow and/or have it Ziebarted. There is a Ziebart place in Mass.

I see a severe lack of rust due to a serious oil leak... kinda like my 88

should have the motor back together today, if I did not need the car I would have repainted and cleaned everything like my mustang, but for now all the leaks will be cured dont know if the rear main was leaking, it looks like the valve covers and intake may have been the culprit plus there was some kind of nest under the upper intake luckily no wires were chewed. So I am installing a new water pump, thermostat, thermostat housing, power steering pump, ps high pressure line, upper lower intake gaskets, valve cover gaskets, plugs, wires, cap and rotor, pcv valve, radiator cap, coil, drive belt, 2 new oil plugs, oil and filter change, fuel filter, radiator hoses, heater hoses, probally a few more things, then i need to build my headlight harness oh and some jackass jack the car up by the diff cover and bent it so good thing i have a spare and good time to change the fluid

That looks like the plug that connects on top of the a/c compressor.

That's exactly correct, that's the compressor plug, and that diode is for the A/C clutch, so when the clutch is disengaged, it protects the computer from a voltage surge.

Cool I was thinking it may be for the ac because my car is factory no ac, and I could not find anywhere where this went and would not rest till I figured it out thanks a lot and will have new pics posted in a couple days. I am hoping to buff the paint this week and see what shine I can get out of her.
