The engine should just idle real bad and die if the dizzy slips, but it can get far enough around that it might backfire... hence the caution.
I know that, I was being sarcastic. I realise that the distributor can move. That's also why it's nice to have a starter solenoid on the fender. If one were afraid of this happening, they can just have the key on, loosen distributor, and hold it to make sure it doesn't move, engage the solenoid with a screwdriver, and vroom vroom. Adjust away.

Thats one strange thing i noticed about my dizzy when i replaced the TFI. I have read that turning it clockwise advances timing. But from the factory mine is turned as far as it can go, cuz the TFI hits the intake manifold. So I guess I wont be advancing my timing anytime soon, which is no big deal im done modding/tuning until the HO swap. If that ever happens.

Congratulations, you just wasted all that por15. You need to use Prep-n-Ready if you use the Marine Clean. Even the directions (which I assume you didn't read), state that multiple times. All that por15 on your floor is essentially useless, and will flake right off in due time (been there, done that).

Looks like you did a nice proper job on the frame though.

just need to pop the dizzy out (mark the rotor position inside it first) and then drop it back in a tooth or two away from the intake. It's not supposed to be that far over.

Not sure the intent was to "re-build" the metal but rather just to look good. Kinda like the "welding" on the frame that was sold to MD.....if you put lipstick on a pig - it's still a pig, right?????

                    THIS!

i agree one hundred percent. that stuff is for preventing rust, not repairing it. the best thing that you could have done, was soak the shit out of the car with oil. like pantera said, the por 15 will seal the rust in and prolly accelerate the rot(ditto on the been there, done that). iv had my fair share of rusty vehicles and nothing beats dripping, messy oil. the floors and frame on my wagon were minty when i bought it, and still are. the poor car turns white from the salt but, the oil stops the rust from forming. the place i go, they use undercoating oil with inhibitors to stop the rust. with the few small rust spots that i have, you can wipe the rust off lol

That's why oil leaks are sometimes good. If you live in an area where they salt during winter. That's partially why the undercarriage of my car, at least up to the floor pans, doesn't really have any rust. It was undercoated at one time, but most of that has flaked off.

                        update time

saturday and sunday went to johns to fix my transmission leak. replaced both the extension housing and gaskets and seals and now no more leaking fluid. john also fixed my egr code the previous owner had it hooked up the wrong way.

next update will include the refinishing of the dash gold trimming, replacing the coffee can as mine is rotted and saving up moolah for Dual Exhaust as the exhaust on this car is horrifying it's getting all redone from manifolds to tailpipes.
