Finally got me a truck! A 1994 F150 XL.

She's got the 4.9L MFI 300 I6 paired with the 5 speed stick and the H9 3.55 locker. Almost has 110k on the clock. She was originally owned by a friend's grandfather, who got a new truck and let this one sit. For being inactive for a few months, she fired right up and handled the 15 mile drive home without hesitation. She has her love bumps and what looks like a little rust (painted over) around the one wheel well, but all in all, a solid truck for $800.





Sarah scrubbed her down for me while I ran out and got a new battery. First thing on the to-do list is to replace the shackles and hangers on the rear springs. Then need to figure out why the horn doesn't work. That's all it should need to get through inspection methinks.

And digging through the multiple receipts and all that came with the truck, I found the original window sticker and bill of sale in the glove box! I can't wait to get this thing on the road!

Tom; that plate was the Marquis old one. One there temporarily to make it look legit. May transfer it over...don't know yet.

The truck new cost $15,xxx in 1994. Only a handful of options selected, including the H9 axle, preferred equipment package, and dual fuel tanks. Built on 8/2/94 (I think), sold on 8/12/94 with 120 miles.

The original pictures of the truck were in my buddy's yard, (A) taken with a cellphone and (B) had all the dirt and crap on it from sitting for months. We drove her home late a few nights ago. The following morning my buddy came over to help clean her out. The bed became a shed for the time it was parked...so we tossed everything from my truck to his.

Still need to sweep and wash out the bed. It has a "Load Lok" bed insert, which seems like it'll come in handy in the future. Sarah gets all the credit for washing the truck, I was out looking for a service manual and battery and all; she cleaned it inside and out while I was gone.

not bad at all for 800. The 300 is a solid motor. Not exactly fast, but with a 5 speed they do just fine.

Found a couple more things that I'd like to take care of before inspection...

I completely overlooked this before, but the driver's side windshield washer nozzle had been replaced at some time with one that shoots the fluid straight up. It still hits the windshield on its decent back to earth, at least when the truck is at a stand still. At any higher speed, it may just wash off the roof of the cab.

And when ever I try to wash the windshield, the auto-wipers do not turn off. The only way I've found so far to stop the blades is to turn the truck off...but hey, at least they work.

Very nice!!! Now you have a DD and parts runner. Inline sixes are a lot of fun. I wish Putter Project had OD, or is compatible with an OD tranny other than the little T5's used in the S-10s.
