Hmmm... well it has the twin-butterfly TB and orange injectors. No engine sizing on the upper, can't see the lower good enough to read anything. Its hard to get a good line of sight behind the dizzy and the lower T-stat bolt...

We did a VIN look-up on it at work, and it says its a 5.0. hhhmmmm

prolly a 5L then. i think 5.8Ls were more popular with ext cab trucks. but still, should be good enough for what you need it for.

Brought her home from work - she started, idled, and ran great on the whole half mile trip home, lol.

Oh yeah! Noticed for the first time it has an electric brake controller installed too. Can you even pull a needs-brakes trailer with a bumper ball???

Also, I'm already wanting to re-paint the wheels grey and add trim rings when i put 'new' tires on it, and fantasizing about finding nice red bucket seats/console to swap out the bench for

you prolly could tow a needs brakes trailler with the bumper. reason being, alot of smaller trailers have either eletric or serg brakes equiped. example, 20' boat on a single axle trailer. ask me how i know lol.

Found a trim ring and a non-broken airbox for it at the junkyard today, so I put those on and swapped the IAC from the 91 onto it. I backed the throttle stop screw off to almost nothing (it was out at least 1/4") and let it re-learn, but it still wants to stall idling in gear about every other time I run it.. It seems to come and go.
Tomorrow Im going to test the TPS and clean the TB plates, its pretty nasty in there. Also got some seafoam and some gas treatment, since it did sit for a while between dump runs, and since I put a little Sheets gas in it, lol.

More potential good news... I checked the timing, it was dead on - with the spout plugged in Unplugged it showed 0 degrees... moved it up 12, and its been idling/running better ever since and has more power. Fingers crossed!!! It also shifts better now, I guess since I don't have to give it as much throttle to get it up to speed at a normal rate.
I also replaced a broken window crank, loomed a few wires that bothered me, replaced all the lugnuts with the stupid caps missing, and gave it some TLC. I gave the TB a cleaning, seafoamed it, replaced the broken motorcraft PCV valve and put in a new breather.
Found a 15mm Snap-On socket under the seat too
Oh yeah, and it looks like the TPS is dead... its got 5 volts in, but nothing coming out. Its on the underside of the TB, so it will have to come off. I'll be swapping one on it once I get a TB gasket.
Also, searching the ford truck forum I found a lot of threads about a TSB on the first 5.0 SEFI truck motors to re-locate the PCV vacuum source from the back of the intake to the middle. Evidently all the vapors get sucked into the #8 runner and is hard on the piston. There is an empty fat nipple on top of mine, so I'll be re-routing that once I get some hose...!
