    The $175 81 LTD

I bought the car from a friend's mother who had it sitting in her driveway for the past 3-4 years. She said one day it "wouldnt start". She thought it may be the starter solenoid. She offered it to me for $175. Naturally, I took it.

    The specs:
    1981 Ford LTD
    302 with Motorcraft 2150 Carb
    AOD trans
    84,000 original miles
Only body damage is a few scratches down to the metal here and there and the chrome trim over the passenger rear wheel opening is a little bent up.

Due to our vehicular situation(2001 Ford Escape in the shop for the past 7 weeks!!!!! ) I havent been able to really work on it up until yesterday. I bought a bottle of Marvel Mystery oil, squirted some in the spark plug holes, changed the oil, poured the rest of the Marvel Mystery oil in the crank case, took the belt off the locked up smog pump, and jumped it off. Let it turn over for about 20 revs. Put the spark plugs back in, poured some gas down its guzzle, and it fired right off!

    Still on the list:
    Tank of gas
    Transmission fluid
    Transmission filter
    Coolant
    Rear diff fluid and gasket
    Tires
    Tag and insurance
    Cleaning
YOU CAN NEVER HAVE ENOUGH RUBBER!!Just too much sheet metal!

Good man, you know the proper way to bring one out of hibernation with the oil in the cylinders and priming the oil system up. Looks like a nice solid car you got there and at a hell of a price.

Haha yeah. It fell apart the first time I touched it. Maybe I can find one intact next time I go salvage yardin. First things first though.

That, and the cheap, dollar store, adhesive backed digital clock stuck to the lense of the OE clock are the only things Ive found on this car that were rigged. Pretty surprising being as that Im in Southern Oklahoma.

Side note: The cheap dollar store clock too fell off while it sat in my driveway. Thankfully the adhesive was also cheap, cause I was able to scrape it off with my thumbnail without any damage to the lense on the OE clock.

Its got the analog clock in the dash I take it ? If it works, that makes it even funnier that someone stuck a digital clock to it. People always get amazed when I glance at the big analog clock in the Lincoln and tell them what time it is. I swear the art of reading a conventional clock is lost.

                      Nice find!!!

But, from the looks of it, you have a 351, because im pretty sure that little brain box on the drivers fender is a 351 only thing.

So that, combined with it being a slicktop, Im willing to bet that you have an ex-police car.

                      Congrats

that thing has some potential! hope you keep us updated...

my VV has that MCU... only way to know is to check.

Does it have 2 black plastic rectangular slides in the carb or a choke plate?

Then again weren't some of the later 2150's partially computer "assisted" too? maybe it got the same system as the VV.
