    Also, I'll add this.

I'm not very fond of the BG/ Demon carb. Its far too clean looking. Not that thats an issue... but it will probably get swapped for a Holley.

Luckily I won't let my crew chief buddy that was messing with the wiring near my cars anymore. The fact that he works on Air Force aircraft is scary!

I'm glad to hear you're making progress. The car sat way too long, IMO.

Sucks about the roof and the transport company. You seem to be an extremely humble and patient person, unlike myself.

Glad this car found a good home. I look forward to reading future updates of The White Box.

My only comment about the EFI is that if you're not gonna use it, you ought to remove all of the EFI stuff in its entirety so things aren't in the way. I have no idea what may have been done to the wiring, but if it wasn't removed in one big piece, you should probably look into doing that to clean things up.

Glad to hear your most likely sticking with a carb. It is much simpler and one of the reasons I love them so much is because of how clean they make the engine bay look just like you said. Oh and as far as louder mufflers, gotta get some Flowmaster super 40's on there

The whole engine harness can come out as one piece....Easy to rip out EFI and NOT cut anything. I've done it a few times without cutting ANYTHING. Just need to make a cover for the ECU hole in the firewall.

Just start with the ECU connector and start removing the harness from there.

I think we lost him already Mike... lol

I understand though... I'm sure he is aiming to give everyone here a run for their money, and I guess big carbs and lots of gas is the more direct, less involved way to get that ultimately.

More progress, mangs. I'll have some pictures tomorrow. I want to wash it again, and it'll go into storage tomorrow night.

Today I changed the header gasket on the driver's side, and tightened up the collectors. With the exception of one small exhaust leak, its quiet again.

I fiddled with the fuel system a little, and found that the fuel pressure is actually in check. I doubted Tom's claim, but he was indeed right.

I also noticed the car vibrating hard when you stomp it from a stop. And I found the problem. Although the poly transmission mount was nice, it was almost an inch hight than the OEM mount. That threw off the driveline angle. I swapped the mount, and the vibration is gone. My friend noted that the engine in the car did not look to be sitting level, but rather leaning forward. Thats when I put 2 and 2 together with the vibration, and hatched the scheme to change it.

After adjusting the floats a little, its better. It still has a horrendous stumble at tip in, but if you feather it, it pulls out hard from that point on. I can stall it up to about 1800, and it leaves with the tires spinning. I can't really flash it without the car stumbling and dying, though.

I also shortened the throttle cable, as it was pretty long, and the carb wasn't going WO. The pedal is still hard, but better. I'm still not pleased with the throttle cable/ Lokar geometry, but I will address that in the spring. The TV pressure is sufficiently high that there won't be any issues.

I also took the thermostat out of the car because I suspected it was sticking, and I was right.

My Dad looked at the distributor location, and is convinced its a tooth off. And judging by the obscure timing behavior I am seeing, it may very well be. It seems to run and idle well, though, and seeing as I will be changing the distributor, I'll deal with it then. I'll get a timing tape, and set it up right.

I will be removing all of the un-needed wiring and vacuum BS. My intent here is high caliber. Now that I have it running ok, I am going to store it, and plan. I'll drive it a little in the spring, and develop my plan from there.

By the way... I did a nasty 1-2 burnout in the shop driveway tonight. The rear is definitely nice and tight!

Its very clean underneath, which I am happy about, but I find that it does ride very harsh, though. Even my friend noted that. But I love the stance, and I think the Cobra wheels are going to make it look nasty.

                        Oh.

And if anyone has, or knows of a set of NOS fenders... I am looking for them.

Do they make reproductions for these cars?

Hey...I am looking for them as well.

I am an idiot. When I purchased my NOS drivers side door (which is sitting in the basement heating room) there was available for purchase a nos drivers side 1979 Grand Marquis fender. I should have grabbed it for the measly 70 they were asking. Filling the fins in with metal would not have been too hard to do.

Last I checked you could get aftermarket fenders still, they are probably crap quality though.

I saw them listed in a catalog for a local aftermarket 'crash parts' dealer here... some discount auto stores have catalogs for crash parts too but you have to ask.
