I have 255/40's all around on a 17x9 on my moms mustang and they square up nicely on the 9" wheel not stretched at all. If I where you I would do a 255 on the front and 275 on the rear.

Also go back to efi. Since you have the harness out of the car already and will be installing everything anyway, now would be the perfect chance to chop up that harness and do a little tucking/tidying and such. But that's just the wireing nerd in me talking.

As far as managment if you plan on haveing someone tune it for you on a dyno go to the local shops and decide the most trustworthy/who you will be using and find out what system they are most familiar with. That would be how I would go about it.

If you plan on tuning it yourself pms seems to be very simplified and has a hand held controller so no need for a lap top. But it's very expensive for what it does. Alot of other systems can do alot more for alot cheaper, but the learning curve is a bit more steep and a lap top is required.

They do alot of late '60s/ and '70s Ford stuff. Nice flanges, tig welded construction. They had a few material options available.

A set of really good long tubes can sometimes run more than these, and most decent brands are only a few hundred dollars cheaper.

I'm not saying I'm doing it, but its certainly a possibility.
True, I'm no longer shocked to hear prices in the $750-$900 range, and that's for ready-made. Not that $1000 is going to be in everyone's budget, but it's far from outrageous.

I for one am very interested in seeing it done. But that's easy to say when I'm spending your money.

Out of curiousity, do you know how much this car weighs as-is?

I like the staggered tire suggestion. Although, 275/40s are pretty short already... but I guess being that the car is somehwat lower, it should look ok. 275 40s looked ok on my red car.

Mustangs Unlimited (Mustang parts house) is right near my house, so I may go there and pick their brains about tuning the car. They will certainly know of local reputable shops.

I have no idea how much the car weighs, Michael. But I will be getting it weighed... +/- 10 lbs. That probably won't be until the spring, though.

The car will be here tomorrow afternoon (its actually in New Jersey right now). This afternoon I need to get some cash for the driver, see if I can dig up a temporary cover, and snatch the fan and shroud from my '88 parts car.

It isn't a fitted one, but better than putting a tarp over it.

Tonight I pulled the shroud and mechanical fan from my '88 car. The shroud is broken :nonono:.

So instead, I'll put the broken one on the blue car, and use the good one on this car. The mechanical fan will be a temporary thing, I think... but I can't have blemished pieces,

I couldn't find the car covers that I know we have, so I'll have to buy one.

I also looked over my complete '91 HO and the harness I have for that, as well as my '88 parts car. Going back to EFI is going to be a bit of a project, me thinks. I haven't yet seen what I am working with, but there sure are alot of sensors and shit under the hood of my parts car.

I like challenges, but I don't think that project is going to be one of my preliminary endeavors here, just because I don't want to have the car apart for a long time.

I did discover that I have a beautiful set of HO valve covers, so I may use those, should I choose to retain a mostly stock appearance.

Depending on what was done, that EFI harness is actually easier to remove and install than you might think. I pulled and re-installed mine during Scottfest with a test run on John's car in between. The rest of the stuff will be the harder part, the intake, fuel lines, etc. The 88 harness is a little different, but not so different it couldn't be made to work. Its mostly the cruise control related junk that you'll have left over since the 87 doesn't use ECM based cruise,.

Well, the car didn't get here today. The guy driving the truck has annoyed me, as well. So he will not be getting a tip. I called him yesterday to gain some insight to when the car would be here. I work during the day, so I was making arrangements for someone else to recieve the car. He told me he'd call me last night, or this morning at the latest, to let me know.

No call. So I left him a voicemail at 11 am, and tried him again at 1. No response. So I called the company. They told me his truck needed an air bag replaced, and the car wouldn't be here until tomorrow. I have no problems with that; shit happens. They also told me that he would call me within the hour to let me know on things. Here it is, 4 hours later, and nothing.

I'll call the company and let them know that I am dissatisfied.

That would be the parts car I am mentioning.

I'm not afraid of it in the least. But I want to do what is going to work best for me in the future. A carburetor is simple. If I go that route, my plans are a new fuel system; Aeromotive pump, regulator and filter, custom pick-up, new supply and return lines, and a sweet set-up for the carb. I'd also swap the distributor for an MSD vac advance, 'ready to run' billet unit. I've got some experience with them, and frankly, I really like them.

This will allow me plenty of room to grow with the engine, it looks clean, and it is simple to tune.

If I stay EFI, I am still mapping my plan out. But just looking at my '91 engine, and '88 car, I am pretty disgusted with the abundance of wiring that I am seeing. Its not intimidiating (this coming from a mang that pulled the entire harness from his truck, just to wrap it in black tubing, so it looked cleaner, and factory)... it's ugly. It will also be harder for me to tune.

It may sound like I've made my mind up, but I really haven't. Time will tell on this, and I don't even have the car yet.

                                Definitely not.

It will be the white box, until I make some performance strides with it. The name for it at that point shall remain a secret, until I feel like divulging it.

Yeah. Clean as hell. Cleaner than the Cobras I got from you. Only one wheel has a little marking on the back side, like maybe they had peeled the weights off there. I'll sell you the Cobras back for $50 less than I paid. I think that'd be $250. Same tires, etc. Same condition, as I never drove the car more than a few miles with them installed.

And $250 is significantly more than I paid for these mint terminator wheels.

I need to see about getting a cover for it, now.
