I am not getting one of the 35 dollar specials. I am going to spring for one of the better ones, because this engine is WIDE. Like REALLY wide. 29".

Yeah, sounds like you want one of the fancy ones with the crank. I actually bought my supercheapo 750# stand to rebuild a Saturn motor on, though it's done OK with my 351 sitting on it for a few years. Following my usual perfect logic, my 1000# stand with four wheels is currently holding a transmission.

Does that 5.4L have an iron block like a supercharged Cobra motor?

No crank, but I do want the 1/2 ton one with the 4 wheels.

And yes, this has the iron block and the forged crank. Oh yeah

As far as the blower intake goes just find a GT500 or GT( super car ) owner that went twin turbos and you are all set! And you could grab the Eaton H122 at the same time!!
That can depend on the turbo set up. Back when I designed the first turbine end VGT we could program in boost at idle.

Also ponder this Blower lag ..spinning tires out of the hole and or too much wheel standing.

Turbo launch good traction...spools up then have to have traction when the turbo hits

IDK the cost of a turbo set-up versus a s/c, but I would go with two smaller turbos, that way the spool-up time is shorter than that of one large(r) turbo. Plumbing and tuning can be a bitch, but worth it.

I don't have a whole lot of experience with turbo's. But from what little I do have I found turbo sizing to be a compromise. Without going with a very expensive/complicated VGT set up you are either going too small to gain the low end boost but giving up the top end. Or you are going too large that will give you all the top end you'll ever need but has lag and does little or nothing on the low end. Or you try and go with something in between and give up a little on both ends.

None of the Eaton equipped vehicles I've driven have had much if any blower lag. If there is any it's not very noticeable. And can there ever be too much wheel standing?????

And most of the turbo cars I've seen race spool them up at the line. So they have the same traction issues as a blower car.

Tom's already said he's going turbo so it doesn't really matter.

Tom I'm sorry I didn't mean to jack your thread with the blower vs. turbo crap. Back to your killer project!!:megadeth:

Most turbo setups I have seen are done wrongly. A Tbird single turbo I did back in 1969 for TASCA / Ford 460 5200 lbs car did 10.1 in the quarter on G 60 Polyglass GTs 3.08 rear weighed in at 5200 lbs. Very old school compairied to what is avalable today. This engine had a milder than stock cam Holley carb and 7.5 to 1 compression with 10 lbs of boost.

I see a lot of turbo builds using too wild of a cam to get out of the hole hard before the turbo cuts in. Then too much cam to get good traction once it does realy build boost.

Think its a bit funny a guy complaing about turbo lag too when he is turning 9s or less in a v6.

Mine was $50 from the same hicktown hardware store as my $150 engine hoist. There are nicer ones, though.

I actually scored a nice engine hoist for like 75 bucks. Made my life a LOT easier...

What color combo are you planning for your truck? Please don't say Silver exterior/Red interior. I'm getting sick of that combo.

I got a 2-ton shop crane from Harbor Freight for $250. It picked the 351W up fully extended with no problem. I'm going to use it to pull the Lincoln SA-200 off of my father's wrecked rig.

Packmang, I am doing the BMW Leguna Seca Blue with a tan interior. My dash, door panels, and seats will all be leather wrapped. I think the light tan will be sexy! Of course, it will contrast well with the BMW blue which will of course carry into the inside of the truck.

                              And zoomie, no.

Just got my EVTM today. Wiring diagrams are !

Of course, I am already seeing things from the harness that I won't need, and will have to have the tune to get rid of. 60+ wires will be used. A/C will be independent of the ECM; the engine is the only thing that will be controlled. Stay tuned...
