I was going to go with MegaSquirt, but I lose features.
EDIT - I may still go with MegaSquirt. The price is similar to the pulled wiring harness/tune, but with less headaches!Last edited by Grand Marquis GT; 12-22-2011, 05:10 PM.1983 Grand Marquis 2Dr Sedan "Mercules"

So, using the engine stand that Amanda got me for Christmas (thanks, baby!) I started taking some stuff off the engine, and cracked open the oilpan. I found a lot of trash from the timing chain tensioners (quite a bit was clogging the sump), but the crank and bores look GREAT!
This motor was definately a reman. I see where someone numbered the rods. They look like ford pistons in nicely cross-hatched bores, I hope they are standard bore as well. Overall, not in bad shape down low. I can't wait to tear further into it, but I am not going to go TOO deep into it just yet...1983 Grand Marquis 2Dr Sedan "Mercules"

sure the number stamps aren't factory? Windsor motors had the rods all stamped from the factory.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

And zoomie, no.
Nice! I like that idea

Update!
So, I started tearin' the motor down a bit...
Valve covers off. So, nothing wrong here...
Wait! One of these does not look like the other!
There's my bracelet! No wonder this motor was in the junkyard! Ah well, my gain!
The engine, I need to go grab a harmonic balancer tool to get the timing cover off and pull the heads. Stay tuned for the damage pics! Probably a couple intake valves...
Here's the 04 CVPI front suspension that's going in the truck:
The good tailgate:
Good doors:
73-77 grille, with the 73-75 inserts. I like!
Moar later...1983 Grand Marquis 2Dr Sedan "Mercules"

Looks like you are getting some work done!
I wonder if something seized up and that caused the chain to snap. Or did the chain just broke.
Are the mod motors interference engines? If they aren't then hopefully you won't have any valve or piston damage.

I don't care about the pistons (they are getting replaced with forged anyway), and I can replace valves easily. Heads are getting ported anyhoo. Interference motor FTL. Of course, if that chain didn't break, I wouldn't have gotten so lucky to get this motor. Oh, and the cams are going away too. Getting some 03/04 Cobra pieces.
I still have a lot of work ahead. Machine work, and parts buying.1983 Grand Marquis 2Dr Sedan "Mercules"
