Well then as long as the heads and the block are good you should be good to go. That is going to be a wild truck!!

Hopefully my tax return will net me a new welder. I hope!!

Good luck man! Are you looking at a specific make/model welder yet? Or are you going to wait and see how much the tax man giveth?

I know I'd love to upgrade from my little 110V welder.

          I'm getting a Handler 140.

It'll go great with that plasma cutter you sold me yrs back. See it in the pics?

The Handler 140 is a good unit. I've been drooling over a Lincoln Power Mig 216. But it's like $1800. And right now I need parts for the 54 more then that welder. But someday I'll get that bad boy!

Yep I noticed the plasma cutter in the pic. How's it working out for you?

              I've never used it

But, I am going to! I have a lot of metalwork to do! I have to do some cutting and welding on the drip rail areas (rust, driprail delete), some work on the cab, on the bed, etc. Should be fun!

Also, Naval Jelly is GOOD SHIT!

took the rust clean off the trunk of my mark. still just with rattle can primer on it, but NO rust on that lower lip. Since it's on the inside and not viewable when the trunk is closed... meh. Next owner can fix that.

Well it'll be nice to have once you start the metal work!

I know all about having a lot of metal work to do!! At least you aren't cutting your cab in half!

Yes but it's messy shit too!

Are you having someone else assemble the heads for you? Theres a special tool you need to lock the cams in position to install the chains. Those gears are just taper fit, no keys. Guy I used to work for pulled the heads on his Mark VIII an found out that little trick.

I'm going to buy the OTC kit from Summit.

The machine shop will do the actual work on the heads. Nothing fancy, just some cleanup, gasket matching, and a valve job.

I totally didn't notice that... nice catch. That seems about right for an Audi owner though. :p
