      dead alternator

It didn't sound very healthy when I moved the car around the parking lot earlier this week. I went to start the car today and no dice. Planning to get an alternator from the junkyard this week. Dash warning lights were visible, so I don't think the battery is the problem...

stock is 95 optional is 130 amps for an aero alternator.

check battery voltage if it's not starting. if your dash lights etc are coming on, it's got at least some juice. under 11 or 10v and i would start suspecting the alternator.

what kind of no start is it? crank/no?

              some voltage numbers

My step-bro gave me a boost with his Tercel. We got 14.65 volts shortly after the car was started. After a few moments, the voltage began decreasing to 13.80, then 12.26 before I pushed the pedal to keep her running. I drove the car to the shop (about 10 minutes away) and left it there. I'll know more later this week after they work on it.

No progress...They put the car on the hoist but didn't do anything more because of the soft frame. I went there today and asked them to at least do an inspection. With a rejection sticker, I can at least drive the car to the welding shop for an estimate. Depending on what the welder's opinion is, I may end up using the car for parts

                  the end

I got the car back today. I had the shop do an official inspection. Here's the issues they found:

                  frame rot
                  front brakes
                  fuel lines
                  idler arm
                  air-suspension bags
                  rear brake lines

At this point, I'm considering stripping the good parts off the car and scrapping it...A sad ending for a rare Panther. That being said, I could try and find a mint '92 and make a Touring Sedan clone.

you could also use a 93.. they're identical except for that grill IIRC.

                      a 93 would work nicely but i love the 92 non-grille.

                        hence swapping out the grills.

The section of frame rail just under the driver's door is gone. Right front body-mount has a small hole up near the radiator. Can be patched but when that rusts out I'm back to square one...

                                battery swap

The old battery wouldn't hold a charge anymore, so I took it to Canadian Tire for a core refund. Installed the battery that was previously used in my '90 CV. Within the next two weeks, the CV will be stripped down then sold for scrap...
