Progress was made! Today I replaced the fuel filter.... Swallowed about a half pound of rust in the process, went right in the throat so there was no spitting that could be done.

Moved on to drain radiator.... antifreeze is very sweet tasting.

Changed thermostat and gasket, installed new upper stainless hose and lower hose.

Discovered thermostat gasket did not seat right and was leaking... Replaced again... Discovered I had a new motorcraft upper and lower hose, so the one I purchased for $24.00 was completely unnecessary.

Filled radiator with water (again) and leak was fixed... this time it was the stainless hose. Tightened the hose clamp up.

Ran car to temperature to mix the water around, then drained radiator again. Left the drain undone, stuffed garden hose in the radiator and ran it to temp again... until water coming out was clear.

Stopped, let radiator drain, then filled with 100% antifreeze, then ran to temp again to mix.

10 hours later.... and down one set of clothes I am done. I am not sure why these simple procedures took so long. Oh wait yeah it was 90* outside today.

All bitching aside I learned how to do a radiator flush.. which was good. Now my dad wants me to do the Lincoln though.

Some pics of, well, not really much.

        No burnout pictures.

        This is bullshit.

With that aside... the car looks good, and any forward progress is a good thing.

I still have a bone to pick with you, and David (especially). Great looking cars, and the engine bays are dirty. Well, David's is worse than yours, in my opinion, but still.

        Come on guys. WTF.

I should have put on a clinic at SF. My vehicles may look like piles, but goddamit they're clean under the hood.

Don't take it the wrong way. But put it on your list.

Yeah, it is filthy because the car gets undercoated twice a year. I leave the shit on there so that things dont rust up on me. Im not going to be using the car in the winter anymore though, and I have a nice polished intake to throw on. I assure you over the summer the engine bay will start to clean up. When I eventually swap motors.... after college, I am going to spray the whole bay the color of the car and make all the aluminum shiny, and do some re routing of wires/conduit. Honestly it is the cleanest engine bay in my family.

I would have thought that title would have gone to your Dad's dodge.

Car is looking good though, glad your radiator flush went better than mine did last year.

The cap is alright though? I can just get the right rotor from a pets store, it was listed as fitting my car, I hate when shit says it will fit and doesnt.

Ladies and gentlemen... I present to you the fruit of an hour and a halfs labor (Im really good at hand glazing because I get stuck doing the fire trucks for parades). After about 4 hours of digging holes in rocky soil for a platform... I decided to tackle this task to get her shined up for summer. Now people stop and look. A few cotton T-shirts and some hurting arms later (maybe that has to do with the piece of ledge I had to smash in half with an iron bar for 45 minutes) It is a whole nother blue.

I hear about this hand glazing thing a lot. Care to explain exactly what it is? Looks nice whatever it is/does.

It is very simple... but tedious. Most people prefer clay bar and wax. Basically hand glaze doesn't build up... it will eventually wash off so you need to re apply it once or twice a season. I use 3m imperial hand glaze. Step one is to purchase some cotton shirts and cut the sleeves, collar and any other seems out. Use one rag to apply the hand glaze. I do about a 3ft square section at a time. Let the hand glaze haze up... it will turn whiter as it sets. Once it is hazed up you "buff" it out by hand with another scrap of shirt. DO NOT do this in direct sunlight because it will set to fast, and take your time to make sure you got all the hazing buffed out. It wont damage the paint if it stays on, but it looks like shit. It makes the paint dull until you scrub it out.

why is this preferred over clay bar and wax?

Well depends on who you talk to. I like it because it does not build up... so you don't have to clay bar. Leaves the paint nice and smooth, and the residue wipes off easily from all the trim and cracks. It really is all what you like though. Ive seen some wax/clay bar kits do a killer job. I just grew up with the hand glaze. It is pretty much a mild buffing compound, and makes the paint a lot deeper. You notice it much more on darker colors.
