In case anyone would like to know what the next (slowest) installment of the "Shakedown" project is....

Im going to stop eating and save money for one of These.

It's and F4 roller 351 block with a 408 stroke kit. Then the next question is about what heads I will be getting, Im looking at some of the Edlebrock series on Jegs, but that is probably along the lines of next year at this time before I can start thinking about them.

Im going to try to build a 351 very slowly. The block Im looking at comes with a stroke kit making it a 408. The American Racing outlaw 1's were like $93.00 a piece, not too bad for aftermarket wheels.

So I was wondering.. When I do get the motor for this car, Ive been looking at some aftermarket parts such as intake manifolds and cylinder heads etc. My question is that all the aftermarket 351 intakes I see are mounted so that the T/B is off to the passenger side of the car like on a mustang. Is this swap of sides something I can do. Also Im thinking Ill need to beef up the transmission, although mustangs use an AOD correct? Is that controlled by a cable or is it computer driven. I would like to go computer if that is possible and I think that would help fix some of the problem with the side the intake is on? This is a ways away I just figure I should weed out some of the obvious problems and then when I get around to it I will have a good knowledge base. Im also going to go to MAF, and hopefully wire up the Mustang cruise to work on my car as well. Also what other things should I be concerned about with creating more power than stock IE; motor mounts, tranny mounts, cooling etc. Again not really urgent just want to get my hypothetical ducks in a hypothetical row.

Alright (My apologies for rambling in advance) So Im ditching the HO swap Idea and Ive got my eyes set on a shiny 351 from Ford Strokers. I have yet to call them and talk with them because I will not have the money for a while ( I know the money card, cry me a river etc) I just want to point out this won't be done for a while so don't hold your breath looking for pics or anything. I'm looking at a kit that comes with a re machined/magnafluxed F4 Roller block with a stroke kit that comes with forged pistons, connecting rods, and crank. The block also has the bearings and seals and freeze plugs in. I was just wondering I want to make this a street engine, a good street engine. I don't want it to run like shit at an idle, and I don't want to have to run a high octane fuel. ( I know these shouldn't be problems) I will need to check for PTV clearance when I decide on what cam to run and what heads Im throwing on there. Im looking for a mile cam that won't cut torque too much, and will have power where I need it. It will have 3.73 rear gears so that should help with figuring out the RPMs and such that will be.

                My questions...
                Suggestion on cams....?
                Suggestions on Heads..?
Should I bother buying all new roller arms and other internal components for this ( I think I should so it is a whole new engine going in.)
Also as stated above any suggestions on what other compnents would help me out with this IE, new radiator, larger fan?, better motor mounts?

Just throw shit down and I will sift through it. I can let the guy at Ford Strokers know all the components I will be using upon ordering and he can in turn let me know his opinion on the piston choice etc.

I say yes to the raccoon eyes.

JR, this link here shows the install of a TBI injection system on a 351W Bronco. This may be an option for you.

What do you think?.... Ok not my intake, but I found a site about how to polish it, takes about 20 hours to do by hand..... but I have nothing better to waste my time on so I'm going to break out the HO intake and give it a whirl. Im going to clear it after though because keeping polished aluminum clean is a bitch if it's not cleared.

When i had my mark VII, I polished the intake and valve covers. Took some time even tho I was using an industrial polishing machine. But after its all bolted up its well worth the work. I think it will look awsome.

Yeah, Ive got all the stuff I need for it, so I'm going to buy the compound and blast it in my friends blast cabinet. Then let the fun begin.

I took her for a cruise today, I enjoy riding through the countryside in the evening. For such a mundane car it gets a lot of looks, funny how that happens just by slapping some wheels on it. I also saw an 87ish crown vic all primered up and they liked what I had done. Car wasn't in bad shape, but wasn't good either.

Here are a few pics out in the boonies.
