going to try to do a hood like this attached image of someone elses car. he used the stock hood but cut the middle up and pulled it up to where he needed and then welded in new side pieces. that way it still flows with the body line perfect and isnt as noticeable to people who arent looking for it. i think it gave that car about an extra 2" of space. ill try to do something like that, since measurements show the trickfow efi intake is going to need about an extra 1.5" of hood clearance to fit.

That's definitely the nicest Vic hood mod solution I've seen.

lol, she should be alot of fun. hopefully my fab skills are good enough that i can make a hood like that look as good as that guy did his. i still havent checked what gear ratio it has, cuz i know it had no problem lighting up the tires last summer.

what trim do i need to go slicktop? after looking at some 4 door slicktops i deffinately want to go that way. im probably going to do something kind of like this car below, since i really like the way it looks, and hopefully the owner will get back to me on the paint code.

I've had more than a few '99-'01 P72 slick top cars. In my experience:

The '88s are the ones that do not have the wraparound trim piece on the d pillar. The '89-'91s I have had all have that trim piece. Personally, I do not like it and I wish I had eliminated it on my '90. If you like it, you may need that piece, as it is 'chrome' on the slick tops. The rear window trim is also 'chrome'; I'm not sure if the rear window trim on vinyl roofs is 'chrome' or color coded to the top.

Another thing you will notice about P72s, is the trim around the windows. There is none around the window on a P72, whereas it is usually there on a civilian car. Both civilian and police models have the chrome trim around the top of the doors, but none of my police cars have had it around the windows. They all have had the strip with the dew wipe at the base of the window, but nothing else.

Also, none of my police boxes had the flashly lower rocker trim. TRWP72 has that trim on his though, so I don't know whether that was part of an option or what. Mine have all had a 2" wide peice of 'chrome' trime along the rockers, under the doors. They also have the trim around the wheel house openings, which is cursed as it causes rust, and they ding very easily. Note my red car had that trim removed. My Ford dealer connection told me he could get these trims for me, but they were around $90 ea, and only a few were available.

I haven't had any P72s with ditch lights either.

I have a significant portion of the trim from a pretty clean '89 P72 that I had. I think I have both of the rocker moldings, but none of the wheelhouse moldings. I don't have the D pillar trim either. I do have some of the door surround moldings in nice shape though.

** Note: 'chrome' is clear anodized.

You forgot the trim at the rear of the hood, that's got to go too for a P72 look.

                  Wheelwell trim FTL.

Yes. Mine doesn't even have holes to mount that trim.

There is no real hole for it. It is actually on the underside of the hood where two screws are to retain the hood trim.
