My 1987 Two Door Crown Victoria AKA THE BROWN BLOB
Wow sound great! I saw your video of white Grand Marquis and MarkVI (I believed it's Bill Blass edition)

Seems to drive very well! Any drivability problems? I didn't notice any. I know you say you don't like the sound of it...but I think it sounds great! I'd love to see a WOT freeway entrance run. You have a very similar setup to mine actually, which makes it even more interesting for me personally. Also, seeing your hood shine in the video is sex.
Also, your dad is such a dad in the beginning of the video :P
Thanks Phil. Dad was just watching out for me.
No drivability problems when driving it around town. I have not taken it out on the highways yet to see if it behaves or not when at higher speeds.
My dimply hood does still shines up nice. Freak hail storm gave the car a bunch of character back in 2011. Still bums me out to no end that it happened.
On a hot restart the car did stumble and stall out. This, and the stumbly idle are the two only gripes I have as of yet. And I use the term gripe very loosely.
Probably the offroad pipe is why it sounds like it does. I like cats. Quiets it down and makes things not smell bad.
Yep I passed the Mark VI. Shes rough. Second time in the past two years the roof is torn off of it. All the cars you see near that one (across the street etc) belong to one house hold. They have a lot of mediocre vehicles.
The dash cam in that car does not get used often as the car sits most of the time. The capacitor inside looses its charge and its ability to keep time.
The car is definitely LOUD. I am sure it will grow on me. Id be interested in hearing it from outside the vehicle.
From the above you can tell that the alternator belt tension is at its limit. I tried to remedy that by purchasing a new belt. Currently on the car is a 510K6 belt which is 51” in length. I figured I’d try out a 495K6….5060495 in this particular case which is 49.5"
This was a fail.
The 95 Mustang GT alternator I have does not allow me to fully utilize the complete range of the tension abilities provided by the alternator as it gets caught up/interferes near the lower mount.
505K6 (50.5”) can be obtained and I hope I can slip that on. I should really to the rope trick to limit future disappointments.
I also decided to clean the air filter.
Its been on the car a number of years now (no idea on total mileage) and decided the new engine and mass air sensor should get some nicely oiled air filter goodness. Of course this is exactly what I don’t want to happen so I will go easy on the oil and only hit the inbound air side of the filter in hopes that it does not get over saturated.
Here is the other side of the filter:
Not as bad but still due in my opinion.
Filter was saturated with the cleaning solution then let to sit for 10 minutes while it did its work at breaking down whatever was in the filter. It was then gently hosed down (back flushed) and is currently air drying in the shed out back before getting reoiled/recharged!
Your area sucks to try to go fast lol. It's better to tune and datalog with a clean air filter haha. It makes a difference! I noticed that your 1-2 shift at 4 minutes sounded kinda poopy. Sounds like how the Grand Marquis shifts. I know you're going for a 5 speed at some point. But I'm happy to see that the thing is driving around!

And just because:
You need to grind a little spot on the bracket and then the alternator can be moved to full adjustable ability. I learned this when I put Nick's 3g on my Vic a couple weeks ago. Hits in one spot, easy remedy.
Also. You need bullitt wheels or something cooler, than those grandpa ass HPPs.
Gorgeous as always, I don't like the 1/4 throttle sound (sounds like it's straight piped) but I really like the WOT sound. Very nice. Does look like it gets up and moves out pretty good, surprised it didn't start breaking traction on those burnt up snow tires. I can't get rid of that problem, even with my 285s. It sucks.
Glad it's driving again. I agree - the sound isn't quite there from what I can tell in the video. It's almost got some small block Chevy blattiness to it at part throttle. Get your dad to do a drive by to see what it sounds like from outside. My ranger sounds decent in the cab but outside its a whole different story.

I picked up a 505K6 belt...It is a half inch less then the current one on the car. Should allow me to install it and have some range on the alt tension.
WOT sounded good. I gotta get used to all the other exhaust sounds.
I too miss the bullitt wheels. They looked badass:

Not sure if it was a problem only I had, but there is no baffle under the fill tube and vacuum port to stop oil from splashing into the tube and getting sucked into the intake, there was always a noticeable amount of oil at the fill tube end.

2005 Crown Victoria Sport - Black - Stainless Works full exhaust with Borla Pro XS mufflers, BBK 75mm TB, Accufab plenum, CVPI airbox, Heinous control arms, etc...
I crammed a stainless steel scrubby pad in there to sorta mimic the screen by the PCV valve in hopes of limiting oil coming up from the valve cover area.
Sounds great at full trottle, like a race car! It must feel great getting it on the road after all that time & frustration. I like the "grandpa wheels." My dads LS1 is having MAF problems and I have a sneaking suspicion that its the K&N filter lube coating it over time. Wish I never put that kit on his car in the first place.

I tried that and it worked for a while but I think his MAF is dead. He called me earlier in the week saying the car is back to its old self. Is not throwing codes though so he could be having other issues. Expects me to have a solution but I'm not that good, I keep telling him to take it to a dealership lol.
