My 1987 Two Door Crown Victoria AKA THE BROWN BLOB

Noticed this ebay seller was making some cool intake plaques and plates. I messaged him told him my idea and he had no problem changing up his existing design for me to make thing easier to powder coat.

So I picked up the plaque I had him make for me and am damn happy.

This is what I had before:



Stock lightning plaque that I powder coated to match the car. Nothing wrong with it just plain and boring.

The plaque I picked up:





Nicer but still boring in raw aluminum.

Now media blasted to get it ready for powder:



Coated in OEM wheel sparkle silver and Ford Blue and bright red powder tediously laid into the engraved portions:



And all completed after some clear powder:





It is not perfect as there are rogue streaks and hues of blue and red but it looks damn nice to me.


Guess I gotta install it on the car now.

Going to want to powder coat my spare lightning tubular upper intake. Luckily for me that one is already media blasted iirc. Kinda don't want to touch the engine if I don't have to though.

I have good days and bad. I have been diagnosed with non hodgkins lymphoma b cell slow growing. I need to undergo an additional biopsy of my knee to determine exactly what type of cancer I have before I can begin treatments. I had a full body PET scan and it is only in my knee, inside my femur which is extremely uncommon.
After the first biopsy I had to go to the ER room 15 days later as I was having chest pains. Pulmonary embolisms in both lungs. I am feeling fine now but that sucked to. Now I am on blood thinners for 6 months. Luckily though this is found early and shouldnt be a problem. I feel fantastic otherwise. Just my knee making thigs extremely difficult and uncomfortable.

yikes, hope you get sorted out quickly. Cancer blows. I've never had it, but enough people around me have to make me not a big fan.

The cancer journey is long and tiring. Hopefully you are going to a cancer center and doctors who specializes in your specific cancer. Yes I understand the good and bad days. Finding/treating cancer early always helps. Keep positive, be around positive people. Hopefully you have a good support system like family and friends. Cancer survivors can be helpful. Hang in there !

I am all good here. Once we all find out what exact type of lymphoma (doctor said there are over 90 types) I have in my knee then I will be fully relieved. It is the "not knowing" that bothers me some. I am really happy nothing else popped up on the full body PET scan. I am bummed about having another biopsy though. All the material was used up from the first one on test thinking none of it was cancerous because of its location....Welp now we are here.

I am going to be fine though. My doctor is a lymphoma specialist.

Very happy with the plaque. Dont want to do it again though. lol I spoon fed the powder into the cracks then wiped away the excess. If I can come up with a good method of wiping it would not nearly be as bad.

wonder if you could use a large syringe to get it in there in a more controlled manner. The same kind of thing is used to do writing on cakes.

I know next to nothing about painting and powder coating. Would masking tape over the whole thing then cut out the desired areas work? Rub a crayon in its side on the tape to find the cutout areas perhaps. Otherwise maybe a sanding block with cloth. Damp the cloth if necessary with acetone or water or whatever isn't harmful to the powder coat.

Hope your health returns to normal. Sounds like the probability is pretty good.

The plaque looks great. You must have to get pretty close to see the runs you're talking about.
Edit:or maybe I'm attributing the runs to the picture quality. Still looks good though.

Thing is it is powder! Dont know how that would react with a syringe. There are special transfer fluids available for powder to do such a thing but I do not do this enough to dive into it.

I did mask things off some at first. Masked off so only the "racing" was showing. Taped powder in off a spoon then used a piece of cardboard with a shop towel around it to squeegee the excess away while also filling in the lows. Then put a piece of tape over the "racing" and did the same for the "ford" portion. Unmasked all and cleaned up as much as I dared to. I need a better squeegee method to be more successful. The cardboards irregularities caused some issues. Damp cloths are fine with water. Dont think I would try acetone. Water will do fine in picking up excess. The "ford" section has a slight blue hue around the letters and some of the "racing letters" have some red around them. Again, not much but its there.

I was also thinking something like a lint roller. I would just have to be careful and not roll picked up powder back onto the piece.

I will survive. Appreciate it.

I agree though, not worth the hassle of redoing. I really didn't notice at first.

Ohh. That maybe a good idea. gently dab the surface to lift stray powder.


And hell no. It is far too nice to redo.
