My 1987 Two Door Crown Victoria AKA THE BROWN BLOB
I am thinking we have 7 tooth drive gear based on some quick googling....,so with my tire sizes 255 50 17 and 215 65 16 (basically 27 inch tires) a red 20tooth gear is recommended. I have a tan/light brown 19 in there right now.....I don't remember why I picked that one. lol
I went with 7...and picked up the red 20 tooth gear....We'll find out how that works when it arrived and I install it. I also ordered some upgraded lifters and a harmonic balancer for the new engine build.
Well, the first test drive with the new rear gears and brakes is successful. Brakes brake well, both rear wheels lock up under HEAVY braking just like they did with the drums so I consider everything a success. Car pulls like hell out of the hole...but fall on its face at high rpm even more-so than it did before. Only disappointment is the speedo gear I purchased (no clue on the teeth off the top of my head) reads 10 MPH faster at 55 and about 15 at 70+. I gotta fix that.
I got my speedo gear from MustangsUnlimited.com. THey have them for the AOD equipped Mustangs. I haven't seen a radar while driving the CV since the rear diff swap. But I know it's more accurate than my Ranger.
I used a GPS to compare the actual speed to the speedometer readings. I hope the new one gets it closer. I mean....the way it was I would NEVER get a speeding ticket because my readings were increasingly much faster than my actual speed.......But I rather know how fast I am going.
better than my 88. That speedo comes up very slowly when it's cold (probably due to the type of grease I used to lubricate the stupid thing). Works fine above 40ºF.
Just organized all of my receipts for this car into a nice 3" binder. Collector card protector sleeves hold the store receipts while full sheet clear protectors hold onto the web receipts. I did it all in chronological order. Some receipts date back to 2005! Here is to another 9 years.
You guys are too good. Though my pile of receipts is too damn big. I may have to shove them in a box or something. That is just the ones from the auto parts stores. probably can't read most of them any more due to cheap printers and age.

Mine are in a file folder, but not sorted and many are just non-existant. Probably good that I have what I do since I expect it will help me with the insurance thing.
