I drove it today. It actually runs pretty good after the wee bit of work that I've done under the hood. Runs a lot smoother than I can recall, but I need to put a driver's seat back in the car so I can get a better idea as to how it drives.....and I'll more than likely take it for a longer spin this evening.
I have a super sneaky plan that involves me putting a set of new tires on it, and driving it on sunny days during the winter, just for giggles.

Some random pics....
New valve cover gaskets:
Another disassembled shot:
It's since been reassembled and runs....and whaddya know, no smoke now!
Here is why you should remember to clean your PCV filter in the back of the intake:
In this second shot, you can see that the filter is completely clogged:
And....here is the gauge cluster with Autometer blue 194 LED bulbs installed:
I don't know if I'm going to leave the blues in, as there are a couple of dark spots (you can see them in the picture)....I've also got ideas of ditching the stock gauges, and adding something aftermarket in their place...sometime down the road.
More later...eventually.

I used a pair of needle-nose vise grips to pull at it....and eventually, it popped out, but only after I pulled like hell.

I was worried that little bits of the screen would be snapping off and falling back down there mucking up my oil.sigpic

I just used a 3 inch long sheet rock screw to fetch the one out of my 88. it wasn't quite that bad, but it was well clogged.
