Why should a Thunderbird and a Mark series have different spindles?
They don't. It's the bracket that attaches the caliper to the spindle that's different, at least on 1993-1997 T-birds, anyway. The 1989-1992 T-bird spindles are different, and don't allow larger rotors (I'll show pics later).

But the 1993-1997 T-bird/Cougar spindles and 1993-1998 MK8 spindles are the same, but the Lincoln got bigger front rotors, with the exception being the 1997 T-bird Sport 4.6, which has the Lincoln rotors and calipers.

I'm gonna need some measurements from that thing whenever you get it back on the ground.

        Say 'when'.

Concerning the T-bird....I really need to get this car put together. I just found a beautiful stretch of roadway north of here....and I mean beautiful.

This is a 5.4 Lightning engine bolted into a MK8 Lincoln, which is essentially the same as my car under the hood. The 5.4 is also the same basic engine as the 6.8 V10, with the addition of 4" in total engine length, and two extra cylinders.

This image above gives you an idea of just how wide this freaking engine is, and how it really doesn't fit in this car.

Solid mounts I'm guessing there? Looks like an interference fit from the angle of the pic. Are the spark plugs where I think they are? Uh-oh.

they are COP, with the plugs onthe top, next to the injectors.

Well, Larry- I need the stock subframe height. Need to figure out the stock static ride hieght and geometry for the IRS.

What's COP stand for in this context?

use the context to figure it out.

Unfortunately, I had a ghey roommate for a few months who would consort with another ghey guy from down the hall about proper preparations for entering the ghey lifestyle without severe personal injury. The discussions involved application of a series of the above in increasing sizes. Yuck.

So coil on plug ignition has its own acronym these days? Funky!
