Ah, but could I heel-and-toe with my size 10s? :waiting:

No Dodge products. There is a particular 1998 Dodge SST over in Portland that I test drove, and it was really comfortable....but once again, a stock Escort would give it a run for its money. The whole purpose of this exercise is to avoid having to completely redo the drivetrain in order to get it to get out of its own way. The truck is really sharp-looking, as the SST has Shelby stripes and a specific set of 17" wheels that only come on the SST....in addition to it being very easy to work on under the hood....but this particular truck is going to need at least a blower to get it to run worth a damn, and of course, that means a tranny rebuild to handle the extra power....and an engine freshening....oh, and the cost of the blower itself....oh, and the decreased gas mileage....but hey, I could toss a Cummins diesel into it, couldn't I?

I forgot about that... It's been so long since I drove a '92-'96 regular cab f-truck that I forgot how little leg room there is. Their downright miserable with a stickshift. Though the supercab models with the highback buckets are about the most comfortable thing I've ever driven, and I'm 6'7"/230lbs...

More of a case for the supercab lightning clone? Those generation trucks can be had cheap enough that you'd have money left over to play with the drivetrain...

There are a couple of guys who have built supercab clones of Lightnings over there....but it isn't the same thing....however, there is a bit of notoriety in owning something that was never supposedly built...

                After just discovering this picture:

I already have the Xenon front air dam (the piece added on to the front bumper cover)....I just need the hood.

Eeek ... don't post pictures like that ... makes me want to go out and buy a Thunderbird!

I've only driven one Thunderbird, an '91 ... don't know whether its 5.0 was a HO or nopo, but it was reasonably impressive during the test drive. Shoulda bought my mom that instead of the Corsica she's now looking at literally giving away just to get rid of it.

That T-Bird looks like a 93 Cobra wannabe, just bigger and slower and no manual tranny, no thanks :p

                      Pfft.

Those SSTs are okay... but second gen Rams... they are ugly.

Go and drive an SRT-10 Ram. My only objection is the exhaust note of the V10, which I could live with.

Update: I finally got around to installing the SC seats up front, and did that earlier today.

My God, I can finally sit upright in the car!

My hair brushes the headliner, but it's only touching just a bit, however, this is clearly an improvement over the junk LX seats (the bottom part of the original crappy LX seats are 3" higher) that were in there. The only drawback with the SC seats are the gigantic side lumbar bolsters; I now have to execute some extreme body english to get around the damn things, if I don't want to tear them up (common problem with the Super Coupe front seats).

After taking a short drive....I'm liking da' new upholstery, although I am going to have to stiffen up the seat back some time in the future (weakness towards the right side of the driver's side seat back, as if someone leaned on it hard)....or, I'll just buy some aftermarket seats so I can sit even lower in the car. As it is right now, I'm pretty happy with the new SC seats, as I can see out of it a lot better.

Good deal. Silly, really, about the seats varying so much in height. Sounds like when the car was new, a short driver may have avoided buying a SuperCoupe just because he felt he sat too low.

I'm picturing Larry driving around in his Rumblechicken with his head sticking out of the roof of the car, like in the Big Daddy Roth cartoons.

Substitute the root beer for some lightly-chilled herbal green tea, and you have exactly that, what I looked like in the Thunderbird with the old seats.

I just found a wheel I like, in the gun metal color. These particular wheels are no longer being built, however, the guy that builds wheels in the stock 5x4.25 pattern for T-birds is reproducing them in an 18" wheel in the gun metal color....
