    Good to here that, mang.

    *UPDATE*

Took the car to a different dealer. They acknowledged the issues, referenced the TSBs, and ordered some parts. It was a great experience:

I could not make it there at 7AM as I had my 3 and 4 year old in tow, so I just dropped in around lunch time. They had me pull into a nice indoor staging area. The car was taken in buy a nice old man, who drove it away without any problems. The service advisor even helped me get the car seats out of the car and held open every door for us. After taking less than half the time than my local dealer to do an oil change, the car was ready, windows washed and interior vacuumed. They pulled it up front, by the showroom for me. The keys, paperwork, and a full detail of what was done, and what will be done once the parts arrive was covered by the service manager. A+++ service all around at this dealer. It's a shame that the dealer 5 minute from my home is so disappointing. It's worth the 45 minute drive to go somewhere else. The local dealer was supposed to call me last Friday or today to set up an appointment and confirm that the parts were on the way. Not a peep from them yet. I tried to buy my Fusion from there, but was told '06 I4 manual transmission Fusions weren't in production yet. I found a half-dozen of them at the dealer that serviced my car today.

While I was in the showroom, and sitting in an Edge once again to pass the time until my Dad showed up to get some lunch, I was made an offer:

2007 Edge AWD for $5k under invoice, finance rate and term match to the Fusion (0%/60 mos) and trade-in value equal to what was still owed on my trade. If I didn't just put new tires on the Fusion, I just might have taken the deal.

Interesting! I like it when dealer service departments actually work to justify the outrageous labor rates you'd pay if you were paying out of pocket, and also when they realize that if they treat you well on warranty work there's the off chance you'll give them money when actual work needs doing, instead of doing everything possible to go as far from their store as you can manage. Was this out at Webb Ford in Highland? That shouldn't be a 45 minute drive, though. Stinks about Lakeshore Ford being so ridiculous, though. I've had such dfferent experiences going to different dealers just to buy odds and ends at the parts counter, I really wish they were better - dare I say regulated? :p

Lakeshore is the dealer that screwed everything up. A pity since the Toyota/Scion part of the same dealership is awesome. I don't own a Camry or tC anymore so no more Lakeshore for me. Webb is the dealer that does the job, and does it well. They do not take appointments, and don't seem to need to since they appear to have at least 40 stalls in their service bay! There are major closings at the 80/94 and I65 interchange, and everyone seems to be clueless on how to navigate it. It is normally only 30 minutes away, but due to the road construction that will last into 2010, it takes a bit longer.
