I thought you already had a built 300 that came in the 54? What happened to that?

I've still got that 300 long block. Sold the carb and manifolds and valvecover off it. I'm rebuilding the motor and it's going in my 86 F250 ( in place of the 460 ) .
I currently have 3 300's, a 400 and a 460. But I don't want to mess with an engine swap on the 54. I want to use a complete driveable chassis so I can get it done quicker and move on to the 460 powered 2dr Panther project.

But I also need a different hood. My hood was modified with some homemade little scoops and I just don't like the way it looks. And it will take a lot of work to fix.

I got the original hood emblem, but it is badly pitted. It's all chrome without any color. The hood emblems that I find in the catalogs all have paint or something on them. I am also looking for F-250 side emblems. I have the frame that goes around the side emblem (looks like a hollow bullet with an open end or tail). I think I might have to make them up or something. Those emblems that wildmanjoe has are in really good condition if they are original.

Well the deal on the Bronco I found didn't work out. Which is a bummer.
But I did finally locate a truck that has everything I've been looking for from the start. It's a late 70's F250 4x4 standard cab long box, 300 inline 6, grany low 4spd manual transmission, NP205 gear drive transfercase, Dana 60 rear diff, Dana 44HD front diff.
It's been very hard to find a 70's F250 4x4 with a 300. The ones I find have either a 360/390 FE big block or the 351M/400 engines. Don't get me wrong I like all those engines but I really wanted a 300 for this one. It's got fewer parts, easier to work on and almost impossible to kill. That and I've got 3 spare 300's sitting in my garage if I ever do need parts.
The bad part is the truck is 300 miles away and I won't be able to make the trip to get it until the 2nd or 3rd. But I talked to the owner and he said he'd hold it for me. Now I just have to hope he actually does hold it for me. I wish I could get there sooner but I don't trust my current truck to make a 600 mile round trip and I've still got that utility box on my car trailer. So I had to arrange to have someone drive me there and follow me back.
Hopefully this deal works out. That will get me one step closer to having the 54 on the road and I can move on to a Panther project.

Another deal bites the dust.
So I'll try the next one. I found a 78 Ford F250 4x4 with a 400/4spd. It's suppose to have a rebuilt motor and run and drive good with a rough body. I guess I'll find out Saturday if this one is going to work out.
