Keep up man read all the post!! I'm putting that utility box on my 86 F250 now. I'm going to put the 54 body on a Bronco chassis now.

It shouldn't be that hard to keep up with me I only change my plans 2 or 3 times a week.

Well I found a guy on FTE that did the Bronco frame swap on a 56 F100. But he lengthened the bronco frame so it matches the stock wheel base.

And I took his pic and chopped it down to what it look closer to with a stock Bronco chassis. Looks different but I think it still looks decent. I don't think it looks completely goofy.

Honestly I think it would look better with the longer wheelbase but like you said it looks decent.

The longer wheelbase would require cutting the frame in half and welding a 7" extension in on each side. And then I'd also have to add reinforcing plates on the frame. Then once the frame is done I'd also have to have a new driveshaft made.

Well then, shorter wheelbase it is.

Do you need some hood emblems? I think I have a pair lying around here somewhere.

A friend of mine is currently chopping a '65 apart to make a unit to go in the hills in.....Has a sweet emblem on the hood, its a lightening bolt with a sprocket I think...Still, best of luck to ya...

How about a shortbed F-150 frame? Those are longer than the Bronco but not by much, do you have numbers on them?

                          Yea I need hood emblems for a 54 F100.

But I also need a different hood. My hood was modified with some homemade little scoops and I just don't like the way it looks. And it will take a lot of work to fix.

That modified picture I showed is actually a few inches shorter then it will be.

The Bronco wheel base is 104"

                            The 54 F100 ( short box ) is 110"

                            61-72 Short box F100 is 115"

                            73-79 Shortbox F100/F150 is 117"

And the 80-96 are too wide.

The 78-79 Bronco is the only chassis that will work without having to shorten the frame. And trying to find a cheap standard cab shortbox 4x4 around here is not easy!

I found a 78 Bronco for sale that has a 400/4spd/Np205. It supposedly has a rebuilt front diff and a rebuilt motor but needs a PS pump. I was going to go get it this past saturday but had something come up so if he doesn't sell it I'm going after it next weekend.

Alright I looked through this thread and didn't find the answer and you probably changed your mind since the last one: what engine is going is the 54 after it's put on the new frame? Maybe that 400 from the Bronco or the 460 you got?

The motor for the 54 will be whatever motor comes in the donor chassis. I'd really prefer a 300 inline 6 or a 351W. But neither of those engines were offered in 78-79 Broncos. For 78-79 Broncos they came with either the 351M or the 400. But quite a few of those were swapped out for 460's. This is going to be my year round daily driver so I don't want a 460 under the hood!!

I'm saving my 460 for a 2dr Crown Vic or Grand Marquis!!
