My 87 LTD Vic LX (Annual Fall Detailing) *DUW*

Pix from my Annual Fall Detailing of the Box. Cleaning up all the gunk that has stuck to it from an entire Summer of Driving Adventures. There was probably a couple pounds of dead bugs cemented onto the front end, and in the condenser/radiator. Everything was covered, from the inside of the frame being pressure washed out, to every inch of chrome being polished, she is fully detailed.

First set of pics were taken at an old 1940's-50's Gas Station, which I use to go to when I was a kid. You can feel the history of this place when you visit, and you just know some Classic Runner's have rolled though here before, for those of you who know what a "Runner" is. It went out of business about 10 years ago. The second set of pics was taken at a school parking lot, near some shade trees. Enjoy!

Thx guys, I really appreciate it.

That lower trim thankfully is not anodized, and is real chrome, so it only took about an hour of hand polishing it, to get it to shine like that. The rest of the anodized trim will be another matter though, as I will have to remove the anodization to be able to polish it, I know a neat simple trick for doing so, but I'm not gonna worry about it till when I have all the trim off for paint.

As some of you know I will be painting this car myself this upcoming summer. I decided to go with a Deep Midnight Blue Base, and then at the last second had the Urge to go Metallic, so I did, and now the color is gonna be Deep Midnight Metallic Blue. It cost a little extra, but I think I will be a lot happier with the Metallic paint.

These are the last pics I will have until then, because she will be getting progressively uglier from this point on, as I start work on the body and have to mess up the stock paint in places. Until sometime next year when she will come off the road for a couple months, while I do the final prep on the body. During that time I will be forced to drive a stock 99 Taurus, not happy about that.

Until then she'll be out there owning the road, as one of the only Large Cars around here that you'll see hauling ass in the Left Lane.

Are those '91 turbines are did you paint them silver? Those Lincoln caps go really well with your vinyl top.

                        Thx Mangs!

Those are stock Lincoln Polished Aluminum Turbines from a 92 Towncar, w/ the Clearcoat still intact. I wanted a set for a long time beforehand, but held out until I found a Nice set, and it really paid off. All I have done to them is wash them, and Polish the outer edge.

GMGT - The Coach Roof stays, now and forever, on this car. But, if Tiggie decides to sell me his 87, then you'll get to see me Convert a Coach Roof car into a slicktop.

The HO convo will get done as soon as I can find some E7's or GT-40p's locally for a decent price. All the junkyard owners here think Ford 302 HO's are worth their weight in gold, and pull them outta the cars before they ever set them out in the U-pull-it lot, so I never get a chance to pull any of the remaining HO parts I need.

My next performance mod is gonna be a K-Code Rear End, from a junkyard Towny.

coach roofs are the only way to have a vinyl top, regular vinyl tops need to get stripped.
