the other thing thats in my head is why use a stock cam if i have an aftermarket intake manifold and throttle body and im using roller rockers? my pistons may get changed and im using a higher stall converter. the heads will be stock but im gonna port them myself or have them ported by someone else. i rather just use an aftermarket cam and like i said im getting it for 50 bucks and i do have a budget so it works out.

What gauges did you get? I see the tach on the right, but what are the others? And are they electrical or mechanical?

Yall are making me want to do some engine fixin!

Gauges are mechanical, that's the exact ones I have in my '82. I like them a lot.

I just used the nylon that came with the kit. On teh '82, I ran it though an existing hole. I put a small rubber hose over it, and then into some wiring loom along with the temperature wire. On the '88 I actually did it right, drilling a hole in the firewall, using a grommet, and then the wiring loom and such. Just be careful not to kink it.

this week me and a couple friends got the headers and most of hte exhaust together. since i got a catback system for a mustang we had to custom fab the pipes coming off the headers ansd went as far as putting on the mufflers. i absolutely love how hte dynomax mufflers sound and i noticed a pretty big jump in power which this car needed.

now im working on getting the upper half of a H.O. 302 with the throttle body and maybe cut the mods tot he lopo there till i get my H.O. motor together.

so ive decided that i want to run a carbed 302 instead of a FI setup. my girlfriend even bought me an edlebrock airgap manifold today. God i love that girl, i just need to sell the performance specialties typhoon manifold and the 70mm egr spacer and throttlebody so i can get a carberator and GT40 heads.

i cant wait to get this thing built. my biggest thing is deciding if i should rebuild my lopo with new heads and mustang pistons and everything and drive my gf's spare car or buy another motor and rebuild that? idk what to do though id save the money on a spare motor if i rebuilt mine

well my head gasket is preety much gone and im getting oil in my coolant so its time to put new ones on. i figure while im doing this i can convert the car to carb and put the hooley carb, edelbrok manifold and ford E-cam on the car as well. the only hting thatll suck i dotn have a set of E7 heads at least so ill have to use the lopo heads.

so what will go on the car will be
                    holley 600cfm 4160 carb
                    edlebrock rpm air gap manifold
                    new lifters and pushrods
                    new timing set
                    83 mustang dizzy and module
                    mustang govener
                    water pump
                    oil pan gasket
E6 heads unless i can find a cheap set of E7's.

theo only downside is i dont have enough to rebuild the rest of the motor so im hoping the rings will hold up till i can get the money to do it seeing i got over 200,000 on the motor. it doesnt burn oil though so i think ill be ok as long as i dont beat on her every day.

RPM manifold will be a complete waste with E6 heads ... shop around, E7s can usually be had for seriously cheap.

i know it will be. the only thing i can see doing with my funds is porting out a set of E6's unless i can find a really good deal at a junk yard

Good luck with that! Some guys give 'em away, but some junkyard guys I've met would probably act like they're solid platinum or something. Though, I'm told that even E5s, etc. would be an improvement if you find a pre-'86 302 car.

well i bought a set of heads off an 89 LX on ebay. i hope theyre not bullshitting me since i saw a lot of people claiming E6 mustang heads and what not.

my new list of parts is a proform HEI distributer over hte 83 mustang stuff and the mustang heads (which i hope thats what they are.

ill have to find what i can to hook the distributer up though and just hope it all works out fine.

Yeah, I'd forgotten about the idiots who seem to think any SBF head is automatically worth having from a performance standpoint.

You're going HEI too, huh? I just ordered one recently to simplify things if my mom borrows the two-door ... be interesting to see how it works out.

yea. i just need to figure out how to wire it up and everything. i gotta decide if im keeping my AC and trying to fix it too or if im just gonna toss the stuff. i rather just get rid of it but then i miss it over the summer when its a 85-90 degree day and im baking in my car.
