I have one decent pic of the seats in the '88 P72. These seats are mint, mint, mint. They came out of an '89 P72 that my Dad's friend had pieced together from a bunch of cars (the best of everything). It was the most perfect box police car I've ever seen (but was a little rusty underneath). Anyway, thats the rear heater out of a Suburban between the seats; it was a better plan than taking the dash apart in January. Ask me about the functionality of the defroster some time...

The seats are rigid back, and they are very comfortable. The blue '88 came with a full bench (not split) that was power. When the vinyl started to tear, I put these buckets in. But I still have that bench in the garage.

If you're curious, here are some pics of my old car...

Wow, nice. That car was in great shape. I can also see what my seats might have been like new. I can actually see some bolsters, LOL. I like the impromptu heater. Damn Panthers and their heater cores blowing with our high-RPM producing lead feet. Do you still have the 351 badges?

The badges on the '88? They say 351 High Performance, and they're still on the car. That picture is actually very new; maybe a year old. The car still looks the same, but the picture is deceptive.

I had a blue set of those badges on my car, but I took them off, seeing as it wasn't high performance. I bought them for $15 at Spring Carlisle a few years back. Instead, I bought a set of NOS 351 badges from a '69 Mustang (way too much $$$). They are realy nice, and they don't say high performance on them. You can get those badges from a few places online as well... you need a red set

+1 - that thing looks maybe even nicer than the red car! Remind me what happened to it?

Those seats look very much like Nathan in MN's seats ... makes me wonder why I remember seeing a recline lever on his. I'm betting torquelover's are more comfortable, though. :p

The blue car is very rough; that picture is far more deceptive than you could ever know. The front floors were rotted out (we fixed it, but it isn't original anymore :p). The bodywork is very bad (not that my car is good; but the blue car is terrible). It has three different shades of blue (whereas my car has two slightly different shades of red). Its a rubber mat car, and the interior is very much worn, save for the front seats. It doesn't run right (the timing is off, and the dist. is locked up), and it is on engine #2, and transmission #3 (this car went through my older brother, me, and now my younger brother; thrashed is an understatement). When we first got this car, the TV pressure was so high that you had to let off at 65 for it to shift into OD, and even then under any load iot came right out of OD. It was that way for 3 years ebfore we fixed it.

It has been an okay car, but anyone who has seen the two agrees without a doubt that mine is not just nicer, but a better car. Mine is smoother, quieter, etc. But, the '88 was a real favorite when I was in high school, and it used to run really well... I handed it over to my brother when I got the '90. Its still in the family, and should be for quite some time.

They would be nice. One problem is, it's not going to be anywhere near a 351 once I decide what to stick in the engine bay. Is it wrong to put 5.0 badges on a car with 7.0 liters?

Absolutely not. A friend of mine has a '70 Chevelle with 350 badges on the fenders; a little disguise for the 509 inch big block under the hood. Its a moot point though, because I've never felt a small block car shake the ground like that...

I've seen mass amounts of old Box CV Taxi's which had those same buckets in them, so they are not that rare for the Fleet Cars.

I bet any seats that came in a Panther are more comfortable then the base bench seat in my truck. I guess you don't need to feel your ass in a work truck. I might get some old foam in the house and stuff it inside the cloth for more padding.

Are the non split bench seats in Panthers on sliding seat brakets? Maybe I can find a bench seat in the junkyard if it's tall enough for my truck.

Where did you see these taxis?

Uh huh. The one I've got my hands on right now is on a full-length manual slider that uses only the outer four mounting holes (inner four holes are plugged with bolts from the factory). It's actually fairly low, but I'm sure you can easily build an adapter to fit your purposes.

It was at a U-Pull-It in Lincolnton, NC back in 05. It looked as if an entire Cab Company had junked their old fleet.

I'd imagine they did, I never went back again afterwards to check. Been meaning to check that place out again sometime soon.

Probably a good idea. So, that's why there are a lot of Panthers for sale out here with around that mileage. The cars might have more life in them, but cannot be in service with that amount of miles?
