My vic's new Dashpad. NOT Dial-Up Friendly.

Posted the other day in the Looking to Buy section that I needed a new dashpad. The OE one had a few cracks in the speaker grilles and a hole in one speaker grille where my friend way back in '96, the morning after I got my car, said "This looks pretty fragile." while he proceeded to poke his finger through it. I've lived with it so far until my Vic became my Daily Driver for two years. It then quicky degraded into this:

So, the other day my old Buddy calls me and says he's bringing me a gift after he eats dinner. He has no clue that I am now looking to get a new dashpad. Turns out he finds a pretty good dashpad on his way home from the city. I was so excited to see it, we quickly wiped it down and put it in. Here's a few pics of it already in the car:

And a few more with the flash off:

It's not a perfect color match, but it's close enough. It was a great surprise. My Sony DSC-W1 was having a fit, so sorry for the pic quality. Looking at the pics, I need to black out the woodgrain on the dash panels again. Wow, that fake wood's scary.

Feels like a new car doesn't it....

You gotta look at that dash every time you drive the car, like it or not.

      Good job.

Very nice. Can we see some more interior pics (I really like the black/ red exterior/ interior combo)? I'm always hearing about how splendid your seats are. I'd like to see them. My brother has unique police buckets in his car too.

Beat anyone who starts to poke at it. I had a perfect pad in my car, a year later its got cracks from speaker grilles (which are intact yet, amazingly) to the rear edge, and from grille to defrost vent. I've got it covered with a grey velour fuzzy thing so nobody can see it.

The seats are a lot more supportive and comfy than they look. Once I get some time when the sun is up, I'll clean up the int/ext and get some good shots from outside showing the black ext/red int.

It's nice to have good friends like that; and that dash looks like you went back in time and robbed somebody for it.

Just checked out your Car Domain page, and you're right, it does look like your before/after. Where did you score yours from? Anymore pics of the LED 3rd brakelight mod?

It was located in Hammond, IN. If there was another one out here, I don't know if it would ship very well, or how much the shipping might be. I'll ask him Sunday. I believe the only Vic the JY was the one my dashpad came out of.

Nice find mang. I'm still looking for a tan one for my '82. My wagon has a pretty nice dash in it, only one small crack starting at the light sensor hole.
