that is why i dont do business with family.

    its his mistake right?

well, does he know about the tranny? if not call him up and tell him that your tranny is @#$%.
that way he will feel guilty about it and, hopefullly, he will rebuild it at his own cost.

he should expect to make mistakes, every business does, so he probaly have money set aside for situations like this

if you go and get it replaced this may bring two differenct situations, one he may get pissed at you cause some else worked on your magna as he specifactly said that if you need work done, that he will do it and wont pay any of it. (i.e. carb situation, he doest want anyone else working on it) situation number two, he will pay half/all of the bill, its his mistake so he should take resposiblity.

Damn strait! Same reason why when I do work for friends I don't charge them nothing - first they are friends, and second it gives me a way out if something gets messed up - never had to deal with it tho, hopefully never will.

well...he told me if I had trans problems/mods to take it to this guy...Chuck....JW brother that has rebuilt trannys for about 30 years...so yea, he's on e of the few people acceptable to my uncle as far as working on my car...he wouldnt be mad about it.

This is a complicted matter, so I will take the safest route and I will say to be lenient with your uncle because you might need him to do other work on MAGNA or something else. Take MAGNA to your trans guy and have him work on the tranny.

yea...but the thing is...if it needs a full rebuild because my uncle fvcked the TV cable...then I shouldnt have to shell out the full $1100+ for it.....I was planning to have it rebuilt with the gears and the shift kit..but not for months from now...like springtime.

have you talk to him about it?

if you going to put different gears, ect, then he should ,at least, pay half of it.

IF it needs a rebuild...then yea, we are going to talk....even if it just needs an adjustment...I think I'll still send him the bill.

does he know how sensitive the TV setting is??
I wouldnt be too pushy about it... even if he doesnt think he should pay for any of it. Having to do something you already planned to do 6 months early isnt a reason to piss off a family mechanic who just did a large custom job for you
burned bridges are hard to rebuild!!!

Its a good excuse to get a 12 month no intrest credit card then trash it after

doesn't really so much matter what its on, just as long as the geometry is correct. Theres a little arm doodad that goes with the Carter types, I don't know for sure if it fits on the Holley. I know we were having some issues with the one on Nate's car not letting off the tv pressure properly, holding gears but shifting too early because the cable was too slack. One small spare carb spring on the tv lever later, and it returned properly and allowed a more sane adjustment. I think that may have been something funny in the tranny tho, it did die soon after that in spite of the adjustment being fine.

I ran the lokar kit on a 4160 holley and it worked fine for months. Never had a issue with that trans till I tried to stuff it behind the 351.

well, got the TV cable adjusted...shifts a lot better now.
3rd gear still dont feel 100%, but it is better than before...as long as it holds out for the next 8 months or so, it's good...I'll be taking it to him for the Wide Ratio buildup.

no, not yet...possibly this weekend...either that or I will get those larger tires on...doing that would fix I imagine...but in the summer, I go back to reg. tires, so I would swap the gears.
