I was over at scotts last night. he was talking to colin on aim. he said colin's aod got toast. I think scott was saying about the holly carb. you have to get a special clip? for the spring for the tv rod? colin did not have that clip or something so the aod got toast

Interesting, I assumed something like a Lokar TV cable would just attach to the throttle lever kind of like it does on an AFB. Didn't he get the whole Lokar package just like I'm using?

I believe the Lokar cable is more intended for Carter carbs than for Holleys...please, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

is your alt chrome or polished aluminum? looks like polished aluminum to me. either way it is nice, i have been pondering a different alt to handle the power for my stereo.

Wow. Hopefully you'll be okay dude. Fall is the worst time to be chasing out the details on a DD box in the snowbelt. Been there, done that. Time to buy a reliable, ugly, import shitbox to get you through that Michigan winter. I got my last one for less than what you paid for the new carb. I sold it for what I bought it for a year later, not running, and with a broken window. Anything to save the Vic, LOL.

well, it's not totally toast...but I am preparing for the worst.
my uncle obviously does not know how to properyly adjust my TV cable(and niether do I )
so it is shifting way wrong...slipping in OD...holding 2nd too long and barely even going into 3rd gear.
so I am going to take it over to my trusted trans guy this week(cant drive it like this, it will blow up the AOD) and have him adjust it right.
if it turns out that the trans is shot and needs a rebuild or a near full rebuild...I will drop off the gears, the other parts Scott recommended, the Transgo shift kit and say "Build it please."
then go piss and moan at my uncle for fvcking up my tranny by not adjusting a TV cable right.
                      so, it hasn't blown up...yet.

oh, and Blackened300a, my secondaries decided to stop opening for me, so the car is not moving as fast as it should...but I have fixed that...I bought the Carb Turbo recommended off of Jegs on saturday...should be here tuesday/wednesday.
I'm going to have an evil engine...running SYNthetic oil and soon, a Demon carb.

but thus far it is starting up and behaving just fine...no super high idles or anything.

My tranny at full TV pressure would shift just fine, only at much higher rpms and if you want not to wind way up you'd have to upshift manually by backing off the throttle - it was fine tho, once you get used to it, nothing crazy like yers is acting up. Again that was at full TV pressure, which is set by pulling the cable as much as it will moveand then clipping it to the throttle body held at WOT. Don't think you can cause slip and all the other crap you're dealing with by going overboard with the TV pressure - if 2nd holds for way long so will 1st and 3rd, but they will upshift fine when you back off the throttle, and OD won't even wanna engage under like 50mph (well, less for you, cause you got them 3.55s), but it will eventually engage and hold strong - really there's only so much you can pull the cable, and I've been there, and my tranny behavior was nothing like yers. Too loose of a TV cable will kill the tranny AFAIK, burning up clutches and what not, but still don't explain why 2nd holds forever, usually low TV pressure = low shift points. Maybe the Pirate will chime in, he's had his fair share of AOD fun so I beh he can diagnose it fairly accurate.

If your uncle fucked up that trans, it's time to find a new mechanic.

Should I send the bill for the TV adjustment to my uncle?
what if I need a full rebuild because of that mis adjusted cable..should I make him pay at least half?

what would you guys do if it was your uncle?(one of your favorite ones up until this)

I tend to stay away from family when it comes to stuff like this, unless it is my father, who bails me out when I get stuck on a project. Though with my father, it is hard to do things when he doesn't like the mod that I am attempting (i.e. Speedway springs).
