yea, cld783, speedo right now...that Autometer uses a screw-on type speedo cable..the stock gauges use a snap-on type...so, I had to order the new one...should be in sometime this week.

Got the videos downloaded. I especially like the last one - sounds really great! And the angles of the dash in the first one are seriously nice as well. I shall have to arrange to get a ride in it one of these days, even though all I've got to show off in return is my measley 250hp Colony Park. :p

What speedo cable did you order? Mine is a cheap stock-relacement for a '68 Mustang since it's screw-on and eliminates the vehicle speed sensor, but I should probably at least lubricate it one of these days.

hey, 250hp is still pretty impressive!
thats not very easy to get outta our cars...and you could prolly run mid-low 15s with that I'd imagine..with the right gears.

That'll be fun to try. Maybe there's a dragway around that will let me run with the cracked windshield in place, and we can find out. And maybe way in the future I can convince my wife to let me buy deeper gears! :p

Did I mention how I like the black on the gauge panel? I'd been thinking of maybe woodgrain for mine, but the painted satin black looks so good it'll be hard to resist, especially once I get my new black carpet in there.

Sure thing. I forgot to ask, is the panel just a piece of sheet steel, or what?

I listened to your vids over and over, If your timing was way out, you would get a crackle with light throttle and it would have been most noticable in the 4K-5K range and it sounded clean. Get a dyno tune to be 100% sure.
My uncle has a 1965 Olds 442 which we put a holley 650 on and it took a lot of trial and error to get it right without a dyno. Now his car rips the tires loose in the first 3 gears and that was after we ended up going with smaller jets and a timing retard. When we first installed the bigger carb, he had some pinging, and hard starts. After you get your car warmed up and shut it down, does it start right back up or does it take a few turns?? If you can hit the key and it fires right back up then your timing is good. Your plugs will be the judge of your A/F mixture.

Carb tuning is very time consuming. And even moreso on a holley. Enjoy, and hopefully you'll learn something and not blow the motor up Need you to have it running and bring it to the next SF.

it fires up just fine after running for a while..but it's fast idle is super high...my buddy set the choke a few clicks to the leaner setting I think...he turned it clockwise is what I remember...and it starts to fast idle at like 2K but after I press the gass real quick it will fast idle normally at like 1700-1800...I just want it to be more like 1400-1500...and it likes to fast idle for a long time...I have short trips, so it doesnt need to warm up that long.

and I'm thinking I should get a smaller/tougher return spring...since it feels like it doesn't want to go back down all the way.
if I'm braking for a stop light, it's still revving just a tiny bit, like I'm resting my foot slightly on the pedal...I give it a little tap and it goes down to a normal idle like it should.
I was thinking if I had a spring that pulled it back harder, I would be fine...I woulnt mind having to press the pdeal a little harder...having EFI before, I'm used to it.

yea, mrltd, I'm hoping to get it to SF08...it would be kool to race some of the other GMN mangs with built 302s and 351s...and I guess I could just get my ass handed to me by a 408

I've found the Lokar throttle cable just a tad finickey. How's yours mounted? I would expect it would already be set up correctly, but I do have to fiddle with mine from time to time (i.e. turn the adjusting nuts).

                                That's weird. What's moving/vibrating under there?My has been a set-and-forget so far. It's somewhat similar to yours.
