Ok, so friday night looks like it's going to be Mega-Maintenance Madness Day.
I've been worrking nights the past two weeks. And since I'm driving to Philly and back on Saturday to pick up my gf's sister and her 9 month old kid, I'm doing some awesome preventive/scheduled/upgrade maintenance on the Tank.
This includes:
-Installing newer steering box. The current one is failing.
-Installing new E3 Spark plugs and FRPP 9mm wires. The old ones are 3.33 years old.
-Bleeding the brake system. I'm pretty sure it hasn't been done in about 17.5 years....
-Installing Trac-Lok. Yes.
-Installing newer Grabber Green aluminum diff cover. schweet.
-Installing newer aluminum driveshaft. Why? Because I can.
And the trip schedule looks like:
-2/13 Buff to Philly and back
-2/20 Buff to Philly and back. Possible detour to Scott's just because.
-2/22 Buff to Boston
-2/26 Boston to Buff.
So, these trips will make sure everything is running well.
Ok.
bye bye now
From left to right:
- 2 bottles of power steering fluid
- grabber green steering box
- FRPP 9mm spark plug wires
- 8 E3 spark plugs
- PI aluminum driveshaft
- grabber green aluminum diff cover
- MAF cleaner, grabber green spray paint, 2 bottles of brake fluid, gray RTV, Friction modifier, and 2 bottles of diff gear lube 80W-90
- Trac-Loc and associated hardware
- 2 "new" rear tires and rims
So........
I though the Grabber Green steering box would set this off:
Plugs and wires:
here's a better shot of the box of goodies:
New plugs and wires installed!
New Diff. Shun the open differential!

On another note, I changed my speedo gear today. The trip to Philly and back over the weekend confirmed it. Mapquest said 393 miles, but I took the exact same route and my odometer said 352 miles. So, as of 1pm, my speedometer reads correct for the first time in over a year. Speaking of said gear:
I think thats the wine colored one.
Anyone need it?
Looks like your old gear set is a limited slip btw... probably worn out if you only got one wheel peels. I take it the new wires didn't fit in the old plug wire tray? lol...
Corrections:
That's actually a pic of my new diff. i thought i took a pic of the old diff.
And those are actually the old wires in there. It was so late when i finished that i forgot to take pics of stuff.
Sorry! No burnouts in the shop. I would get murderfied.
Results from the road trip!!
Trip from Niagara Falls to Pottstown: 442.2 miles on 16.6 Gallons at 71 mph = 26.46 mpg
Return trip: 372 miles and counting on ? at 75-85+ mph = ?
I have yet to fill up today. maybe tonight!
The E3 plugs and the FRPP 9mm wires did kick up the mileage!!!
Return trip: 391 miles on 16.9 Gallons at 75-85+mph = 23.1
Thats not bad! And since i did ok on the math of the first tank of fuel, I've got an idea. On the next road trip that i have to go over 500 miles, I'm going for it. I'll have a spare 5 gal. can of gas in the trunk. I will go over 500 miles on one tank of fuel.
And i don't wanna hear hate about "burning up the fuel pump".
i have a spare. But i'm willing to take that chance.
I went to my cousin's garage last night and i had my egr tube permanently welded shut. (If i said this on CVN, I'd be banned!! Lolz)
And he is taking the old Marauder tips to work to clean them up and weld on some adapter pipe and hopefully, sometime next week, I can affix them to the Tank!
rock.
